TASK 1

Virtual team can relate to a group of members interact primarily through electronic communications. Members of a virtual team may be within the same building or across continents. Therefore, face to face teams refer to a traditional collaborate between each other without using any help of technology but sitting down in a meeting room and carry on the meetings. In order to achieve the same level of effectiveness as in face-to-face teams, virtual team leadership takes a lot more effort because it requires a lot of effort in building relationship because of the difficulty in coordinating synchronous (same-time) meetings, we end up relying a lot on email communication. Email communication tends to be task oriented and this is why people tend to get to the task right away and the social conversation that is so critical for building relationships does not happen. The leader of a virtual team has to work on building relationships in a virtual team while the leader of a face-to-face team does not have to do much by the way of relationship building because members of a face-to-face team tend to know each other from before or they often have a shared context such as same company, same campus, projects they may have worked on together in the past and so on. Besides that, leading a virtual team requires extra effort also due to the level of structure that has to be created to foster teamwork while face-to-face team compared to face-to-face opportunities which has fostering teamwork such as walking over to team members’ offices or when running into them in the office building, a leader can build relationships with team members by engaging in social chit-chat. Lastly, in my opinion I think that leading in a virtual team can take more effort than leading face-to-face teams and might require a different kind of effort than most leaders are used to expending.

TASK 2

In my point of view, I think that interaction among the team is important in order to build a perfect team. Communication between the team members are also very important so that the task can be done in that period of time. Moreover, leadership can be also important too. A leader must have the ability to guide and convince his or her group members in order to complete the task that were given.
