Selfie and Identity

Journal, today I took a selfie and I started thinking, this selfie represents who I am?

Well, it does, partially. In the selfie I was able to cover some of the important parts of my identity, like the american football, that had been one of the most important things that made my identity; my gender, that is male; or my nationality, mexican, also my fanatism for Star Wars and history. But even though I portrayed the most important things to me, I don't really feel a selfie represents me, I am more than a simple picture.

Dear Princess Celestia, today I learned nothing about friendship. But I reflected about my name and I found more than one interesting thing.

I have two names, Carlos and Jasiek and the history of why my parents named me in that way is because my father's name is Juan Carlos, so my mother named me Carlos, and for my other name the history is more complex. My father wanted me and my sister to have a unique name to be different from the other millions of Carlos, so he decided the name Jasiek.

At first I always used the name Carlos to present me, but when I started playing flag football there was an other Carlos there, so I started using my second name. That habit extended to other environments, like school, where I started to be known as Jasiek instead of Carlos. My mentality is, Why be just another Carlos? When I can be one of the few Jasiek. I preffer people to call me Jasiek, but my closest friends call me Carlos and thats good.

Framing Meaning and Stereotypes

Journal, in class we saw stereotypes and i feel confused. As you know Journal I'm a person who tries to follow logic, but even I can't avoid having some prejudices. But this is where I started thinking about prejudices. I have a few examples of prejucies I have one example is that people with tatoos are probably in a gang or that people with darker skin color are more susceptible to commit s crime. I know I probably sound racist, but I'm not and you know it Journal. Well, as I was saying before you interrupted me Journal, this prejucies and sterotypes are not somethings that I have without reason, I think they are just survival instincs, this is because my brain asociate things I see in movies or in the news to the real life and my context, for example: if a person with tatoos and with clothing that covers most of his body aproches me in the night, the second he is a meter from me I'm gone, honestly I'm not going to stay there to see if its a criminal or just a person that like that style I'll just run to the oppisite direction, but why? What if that person was just going to ask me the time? Yeah, but what if he is indeed a robber? The worst that could happen to him in both escenaries is that he doesn't get the hour and maybe I hurt his feelings, but for me the worst that can happen is that I lose all my things or I might even die. That is why I see prejucies as a survival instinct.

I have more prejucies but I think that none of them are a bias, I know I can change my mentality in a diferent context, for example if I where in a country where is very sttrange to get robbed, I probably would be more open to not run in the previous example.

Journa, doesn't happens to you that you start thinking, I guess not because you're Journal and you can't think, you're not even alive, but anyways I was listening to music and I started relating a song with things of my life. This song was "Broken Vessel" from MOTI ft. Tom Ploops, Emmy.

I feel like this song tells my story because I, as everyone else is trying to survive and to be someone in life, but not everybody makes it, there are times where the darkness is everything I see but I still keep pushing fowards and I need to fight for my place in the world with many other people in the same position as I, most of them will fail and be broken even I could end like that, but I think is in my nature to keep pushing even thogh there is no reason to do it.

Journal, you remember that time when I went to Germany? No? Neither do I because that never happened. For the exchange program I went to an online course and at first I thought that every german was... you know very strict and angry. But the teacher that was with us during those two weeks was very nice, but if you ask me if there is something of their history or politics that is a myth or not, I couldn't be able to answer it.

Mexico´s history today

Journal, today I was asking my self. Why did Citlali left me by a random guy she found in her class? But then I stopped depressing and thought about mexican history, one of the things I know the most, Mexican history. For me the moment that Mexico history changed completely was the Plan de Casamata. This plan was bassically a plan to take Agustin de Iturbide out of the power. From that point of history Mexico started going from good, to bad, to worst, with economic problems, wars with many countries and a political inestability that were only ceased for a while during the Porfiriato. Now, what consequences the fall of the Mexican Empire with Iturbide brought were the ones that I mentioned before but we need to add the fact that central america independized from us, that was the first territorial loss, but then we get into the Texas independence and lately the Mexico-US war, were Mexico lost the 55% of their territory by the ineptitud of Santa Anna. If Iturbide was in the power at that time, the war could be won because first, Iturbide was a person who loved Mexico, he was a military general with many years of experience and he basically won the independence war. An other fact that made this event one of the most important in Mexico history was the instauration of democracy, Mexico for the last 300 years was a Virreinato, a monarchy in few words and then from one year to an other they have a completely different system. Mexico wasn't ready for a change like that, people were used to have a monarch in charge and now they had to choose them, what did they do? They voted for the most popular figures, this not only caused political inestability, but many little civil wars were people like Vicente Guerrero wanted the power.

The fall of Iturbide caused many problems and changed Mexico's fate forever, but I still have hope that I'll move on Citlali and find another girl that loves me.

Multiculturalism: ideal or threat?

Mmmhhh if purple feels like tomatoe, why does Memo papers the orange?

What did I just said? I have no idea, but you don't have any other choice than to hear me journal. I love multiculturalism, as much as I love fail a subject in school. Multiculturalism for me is something with a good intention but from my point of view is something impossible to achive with everyone, there can be certain level of tolerance, but in the end tolerance gets to an inflexion point and only makes things worst. The idea of multiculturalism is something that doesn't take into account many important factors that can create conflict. So is bassically like trying to put many quemical compounds in a test tube, eventually one will make a reaction and many things can happen

Journal, today I've discovered the truth, the teacher doesn't reads my journal entries, so I stated questioning myself about life, love and the reason why Guillermo López Hernández A01711826 almost died for a little faringitis. But I also started questioning multiculturalism in Queretaro. I don't think that multiculturalism is something that is common in Queretaro, this for people from other countries, because for mexicans I think that there are more people from other cities living here in Queretaro that people that were born in Querétaro. Queretaro as a city promotes multiculturalisim along with other institutions like the Tec de Monterrey and I can not think about something we do that is an act of exclusion to other people

But anyways I remember when I used to get toys as a present in my birthday, so I started thinking of creating a toy that represented me.

This toy would be a action figure that would look strong and imponent, but also that has no feelings or expressions the name would be The Hollow Knight. I think it would be a very interresting toy to play with, you can make it fight other toys, fight your sister's toys or even fight god. With this toys kids can learn that you need to stay strong and don't let anyone to stop you achive your goals
