Mission U.S. includes a lot of information for educators as well, providing a teaching guide for each mission, along with videos of classrooms using Mission U.S.

The Educator Guides include information on each mission and how to best help students complete them, as well as the National Standards each mission aligns to and learning goals that can be used.

*A nice bonus of the Educator Guides is that Mission U.S. includes a list of resources teachers can use along with each mission*

Mission U.S. is an interactive website intended to help enhance the learning of American history for 5th-8th graders. Students are able to complete three “missions,” each different in characters, setting, and tasks.

Each mission page includes a preview of the mission and a place to meet the characters so students are familiar with the mission before they begin. There are also extra games built into the mission that elaborate on the knowledge gained from the mission—and some are just fun! (Pennywhistle Hero)

1. Register to create a free account on the website:

-student

2. Use the guides to help you plan your lessons

-each mission has downloadable documents with an overview, background on

the concepts presented, activities to go along with the mission, and additional

resources

3. Select the mission that you would like your students to complete

-Mission 1: For Crown or Colony

-Mission 2: Flight to Freedom

-Mission 3: A Cheyenne Odyssey

4. Each mission is made up of several different parts. Each part can range from

10 minutes to 30 minutes

5. You can have students save their game at whatever part they are on to access

later.

6. If the streaming of the game from the website does not work, there is an option

to download and install the game directly onto your computer.
