         <description><![CDATA[<div>John Francis Mercer was born on May 17th, 1759. He has eight other siblings and his parents were John and Ann. He was born and raised in Virginia but after attending the college of William and Mary he moved to Maryland. John served in the army twice, the first time was in 1776 and was named General. Resigning in 1779, John returned to school to study law. In 1780 he rejoined the army and served under Lafayette.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>John Mercer was an anti-federalist and strongly disagreed with the constitution. The state of Maryland thought different so he left the convention and joined Luther Martin to try and get rid of the constitution on their own. He wanted the states to have certain rights and individual power.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>John Francis Mercer was not very influential because of the fact he left the convention and joined a small group that shared the same beliefs as him. John was given no individual assignments to do for the convention. Only him and Luther Martin were part of the small group that didn't agree with the constitution. There was no information on if John agreed or disagreed with any of the compromises.</div>]]></description>

One of the events he would change is the immigrat situation. Mercer would not like the fact that they are here.
