Squid ink provides the distinctive colouring and satisfying flavour, squid and other seafood the meaty ingredients. Make sure you're familiar with your dining companion as this is the kind of dish that turns your teeth and tongue black - not great for a first date - but as crni rižot is usually prepared that morning and heated up, it'll arrive much quicker than something that might require time on the grill.

The Greek village salad (known abroad as the Greek salad) is made with tomato, cucumber, feta, olives, onion, oil, oregano and salt.
It is a common accompaniment at Greek tables.

Preparation
Tomatoes are cut into symmetrical wedge pieces. Cucumber peel is optionally either removed whole or in strips for decoration. Then the cucumber, onion and pepper are cut into thin slices and placed on the salad after the tomato and cucumber. Finally, add the feta cheese and olives (usually black), oil, salt and oregano.
Since the oil in a well-prepared greek salad is enough, but also because of the tomato juices, in the salad plate remains a quantity of oil and juices. This amount is received with the help of bread, which you can "dip" and is called ladobouki. This ''technique'' is very common in Greece.

Each region has its own art, passed down orally, from generation to generation. The Arraiolos carpets, for instance, are very popular. They emerged before the XVII Century and follow a traditional stitch called the “ponto de Arraiolos”. Portuguese filigree is also very popular. This is a living jewelry tradition in the North of Portugal, consisting of very fine metal threads and beads. But Portugal also stands out in many other arts besides carpet making and jewelry, such as ceramics, lace and embroidery.

The Epiphany is a Catholic holiday marking the symbolic day of the three kings or wise men. According to Christian tradition, after traveling from faraway lands following the star of Bethlehem, the kings left their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh for the newborn Christ Child. In cities like Florence there are re-enactments of the event in the city streets entailing horses with costumed king figures, in which the ruling Medici family once participated. The Epifania marks the end of the Christmas holiday season in Italy which started on December 8; school resumes after this date. Typically Italian schools break for Christmas holidays from December 23 to the first weekday after January 6.

Cappadocia, a semi-arid region of central Turkey, is known for the famous "fairy chimneys", tall cone-shaped rock formations found in the Valley of the Monks, Göreme and other areas. Other noteworthy sites are the Bronze Age houses that troglodytes (cavemen) dug into the rock faces. These same caves were later used as a refuge by the early Christians. The 100m deep Ihlara canyon is home to numerous churches carved into the rocks.

Milan has very nice shopping districts, one of them is shown in the picture above. You can shop there all day. In the surroundings from Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II there are many well-known shopping streets. The famous Quadrilatero della Moda fashion district is located here around the shopping streets Via Montenapoleone, Via Sant'Andrea, Via della Spiga and Via Manzoni.

In 1864, the construction of the passage began. Giuseppe Mengoni provided the design, as he had won the design competition. On March 7th in 1865, King Vittorio Emanuele II laid the foundation stone and the passage was opened on September 15th in 1867. The arch on the side of Piazza Duomo was still missing at that time. The designer Mengoni fell from a scaffold in 1877 and died. This happened just before they completed the entrance gate that would finish the passage.

The passage was built in a very short amount of time. An abundance of stucco, marble and mosaics was used. The reason the passage was completed so quickly was mainly because the iron construction was made in France so that it could be assembled on site.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II still looks pretty much the same as in Mengoni’s original design. The floor is one of the eye-catchers of the building. The beautiful mosaics were re-laid in 1966-1967. In the center is depicted the sign of the royal family of Savoy as well as a bull. It is said that it brings good luck if one walks across the genitals of the bull.-

The building consists of four corridors, covered with glass, which come together in a transparent dome. These corridors open onto Piazza Duomo, Piazza della Scala, Via Selvio Pellico and Via Ugo Foscolo.

The dome is 47 meters high, from the floor to its highest point, and it has a diameter of 39 meters. Because a lot of glass was used, it appears to be an amazingly airy ceiling, even though it contains 353000 kilograms of iron.

He suffered fatal injuries after he lost his balance while returning home to a youth hostel. He was staying with four friends. Just hours after they arrived at their holiday. The mountain rescue teams were at the scene quickly, but it took three hours to pull Richard up from the mountain side because it was dark and the area was dangerous.

The name Athens derives from the divinity Athena. Fate had predicted that the city was the most powerful in all of Greece, so the Goddess Athena wanted it in custody. Poseidon also wanted it in custody for it proximity to the sea. Neither of them wanted to give the city to the other, so Zeus intervened, and let the people decide. Poseidon made a horse appear (symbol of power and war) and Athens made an olive tree appear (symbol of serenity and peace). Following the advice of a sage, the Athenians chose Athens as war should lead them to great goods but little tranquility while peace was secure and aroused tranquility.
The most beautiful places of Athens

Unesco World Heritage Site since 1987, the Acropolis, consisting of the Parthenon and other monuments like Propylaea, Erechtheum and the temple of Athena Nike, present on this rock about 156 meters above sea level. We are in fact in the presence of the largest architectural complex of ancient Greece. In addition to the fantastic temple of the divinity Athena, in Athens there is also the temple of Poseidon, god of the sea. These places are all decorated with different types of columns: Doric, Ionic and Corinthian. So we can say that Athens is a historical artifact through. Athens also boasts of breathtaking beaches!

But after Stalin made the soviet union so powerful his name was removed. The tower is 237 meter high. There are 3288 rooms on 42 floors with a total area of 120,000 square meter. The construction started in 1952 and lasted until 1955, it was a gift from the Soviet Union to the people of Poland. The building was the symbol of the Soviet rule of Poland and therefore not loved by the Poles. There were many noises to demolish the building, but the demolition would be very expensive and therefore this was never carried out. There is a tourist lookout on the 30th floor. In 2000, four dials were hung, with a diameter of 6.3 meters. This makes the building the second tallest clock tower in the world.

Location

Kinderdijk is near Rotterdam and near the Lek. A river in the Netherlands. Its location is below sea level and in a polder. It's in south Holland and from Schiphol to Kinderdijk it's 1 hour and 2 minutes of driving to the parking lot then you have to walk or cycle to the windmills. It's best to go in the summer because you can swim in the water and take a boat ride.

History of Kinderdijk

The whole Kinderdijk lies below sea level, and for centuries people have made sure that the water won’t cause havoc. The windmills and waterways.

The old windmills play a big role in Kinderdijk. A thousand years ago Kinderdijk was a peat swamp, trapped between raging rivers and the mighty sea. The only people who came there were hunters and fishers. They only came in the summer, when the water was low enough.

When the first actual residents decided to stay in Kinderdijk, they built houses on top of the sand dunes so that their homes would stay put. The ground appeared to be fertile, and more and more people decided to start living near the quickly getting richer trading cities of the West-Netherlands.

Eventually, dikes were built to control the water from the rivers. Another problem appeared, though: The rain- and rainwater had to be disposed of so that the land itself would be put under water.

Years later, a Dutch count gave the order to set up regional water authorities. These had the purpose of keeping the land safe from the water. Eventually, the water was controlled and led to one point, where it would be deposited: We call that point Kinderdijk. It marks the first big leap in the development of the system of water management, and as you can see, it still does its job.

What can you do in Kinderdijk?

There are multiple windmill museums, two of them are always open to the public. Every singular one has its own backstory.

It’s the freestanding bell tower of the cathedral of Pisa. The height of the tower is 185 ft. 11 and the tower is 849 years old. The tower has 251 steps from the bottom to the top. The weight of the tower is about 14.500 tonnes. It takes around 30 minutes to climb the tower of Pisa. The leaning tower of Pisa has gone through several renovations.

Shortly after building the second floor of the tower in 1173, it started to hang on its side. After that, construction was stopped for almost 100 years, because it was battling with Genoa, Lucca and Florence. In an effort to stop the tilt, the engineers built the upper floors with one side taller than the other. That’s why the tower isn’t only tilted, but also curved.

People always like to make weird pictures where it looks like they’re touching the tower or doing something like a handstand.
