Learned about Frederick Douglass.... A. Pioneer in African American civil rights. Was honored and grateful to have experienced this part of American history and learn something about someone who I had no idea about.

Saw this cool mural on the way to one of the museums that day.... Was quite a long walk but was able to relax once got there and learn a little more. Very enjoyable and memorable.

This was heartbreaking and tumultuous for my heart and empathy. While I've heard about it in textbooks and saw it in documentaries... I was never able to visualize the mass genocide on Jewish individuals or comprehend the magnitude of what was going on at this time.... But to see that this was barely a fraction of the murder rates makes this sight so much more exhausting on the heart.

This mask was creepy looking and has added to my overall fear of the Ku Klux Klan.... While they are not as recognized now their history still holds weight in this society. I say this because the town I grew up in was known as being KKK land. Once you would drive in you would see a billboard saying welcome to KKK land.... Anyways, where I'm going with this is that within the last couple of months I went to Virginia to go to the mountains.... And a black gentleman started talking to me about the work he does.... Then he prompted and asked where I was from... I kindly said Smithfield.... As soon as I said that I felt the air thicken and vibe shift as he grew quiet....a few seconds later... He asked "are you racist?" I was completely baffled and shocked because I as a BIPOC individual couldn't comprehend another BIPOC individual being racist towards another group... So with that I asked why and then he came to explain the KKK billboard which I was already aware of.... This shows that the billboard and their presence still holds an invisible weight in today's life... From hearing where you are from can determine people or passerbys being able to form an opinion based on where you were from.

Saw this at the American Indian museum thoroughly enjoyed reading about the intertwining of American history pre-colonial times to the integration of technology with American Indians.

Very much enjoyed reading this artists meaning behind the painting. Now, more than ever where people and an administration are openly treating BIPOC individuals as second class citizens.. with policies and ideologies that actively target us.... Now more than ever it is to be vocal and make sure that people are creating solutions and exceeding these barriers that are in place.
