So, here my promised introduction:

I am a new lecturer at USM Bioschool. I graduated from German University (Wuerzburg) in 2008 and obtained my PhD from USM in 2013. My current research focuses on Malaysian primates, but I also worked with small mammals (rats, squirrels, treeshrews...) and tropical plants during my Master and PhD.

I am very passionate about conservation and the protection of our local biodiversity.

Apart from doing research and teaching enthusiastic students, I love to travel and spend time with my 3 kids and family.

Mostly people called me Fizah ^_^

My hometown is Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (famous with seafood and Mount Kinabalu...)

I really love animal especially MEOWW..cat !

I come from Kuantan, Pahang. I think there are nothing very unique about my hometown, except salted fish? hahaha

I will choose to study biology is because i like animal, i want to understand them more, their life cycle, their behavior.. and maybe because i met a very good biology teacher, his teaching do actually made me fall in love to biology during my secondary school time.

i will pick this course is because it is compulsory? yes it is! but even though it is not compulsory, i will still pick this course. Because i want to know how the animal being a pest and how can we control it

I came from Subang Jaya, Selangor. It's consider one of the main city that links to many other cities through highways. So I was raised in a hustle and bustle environment. Traffic jams are everywhere in my hometown.

Why do I choose to study Biology? Because I dislike math, dislike calculation and dislike handling chemicals. Biology is more interesting in comparison although I used to score higher marks in other subjects. There is always something new to learn about the world, something different and lively.

Personally, I like Animal more than Microbiology and Botany because I am the type of adventurous person. I like to move around and have hands-on practical experience rather than reading theories. I love interactions, which in any way animals give more interactions. It's sad to say that people living in the city like me were so ignorant about the extinction of animals. My parents never supported me to be a zoologist until today, because they don't see the relevance of conservation and protection of the animals. "You will end up working in the zoo, getting yourself dirty and smelly after work." they said. "What can you do in the zoo? Cleaning up all the excretions and that's all?" they added on to convince me to choose another major. Yet, I am still proud to be a zoologist and understand our roles as a zoologist. Although I did took courses on entomology, but I dislike handling insects because I cannot stand the feelings of their tiny legs on my hand or skin. It feels so ticklish to me.

I would love to work in conservation centres next time. I had previously did some research on the centres we have in Malaysia. And I would certainly love to start off with Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre in Sandakan after graduation.

Here's something about me. I love to travel, preferably with people with the same interests. I always participate in all sorts of activities in uni because I hope to have different kinds of exposure to people and things around me. On my personal view, you always do best when you enjoy doing what you're doing. And on my second personal view, no matter what is your CGP, as long as you put in efforts, you will always strive in your performance.

Although BZT311 is a compulsory course for us, but I would certainly love to take it as an elective if it's not because any course related to zoology sparks my interest well. *grins*

Lastly, I can be interesting and humorous in person if you don't really know much about me. *Evil grins*

My hometown, guess what ? Is at Cameron Highlands !!! Surrounded by forest , and fresh air during my younger age, but now , due to rapid development and construction , and the less conservation awareness among people in my hometown, Cameron Highlands now is not an Eco-tourist center anymore. But you are most welcome to take a visit to CH as it still have better living environment than city. Don't ask me to bring strawberries, but i can bring you tea leaves :3 Sungai Palas Tea Garden View Is just awesome XD

Well, I m one of those cannot survive without the presence of animal. Some how, I love them more, i love to interact with animal more than human. And my favorite animal mostly include those frighten the public most of the time, such as spiders, crocodiles, iguana and SNAKES!!! I definitely love snakes, they are cool. I will be more concern to those animal which is more dangerous and i would like to learn more about them so a bond between human and animal can be born. Let's not miss the terrapins, tortoise and turtle, i love their "dump "face :3 Generally , the type of animal i love including all ranges , and recently i had more interaction with marine animals as i proceed my interns in Sabah Green Connection Aquarium <3

I personally like to write, read and travel, either with partner or alone, and i will come out my own journal or itinerary after every traveling . But it never published , i just save it in my laptop XD And i love art too <3 Fine art is my minor course and most of my art work related to the nature and animals. I get the most inspiration from microorganisms, plants and animals. I assumed myself the " the artist of life science " XD
Even though i am taking zoology as my major, i always try to learn more out of range, means i would like to know more than animals, like plants , arts, language, history and culture -^^-

After all those words, i'm sure you already know why i'm in this course -^^-

My philosophy is " Life is Learning" ， i'm proud to be a biologist, as a biologist has a connection with the nature, we love to discover, care and conserve .

Haha, well, it's easy to recognize me since i'm the only Chinese with this hairstyle in the class. The snake i'm holding is a reticulated python, same as Fizah holding one （ we both had the internship at the same place). It is a she since it does not have hemi penis ( i checked :3). She is an very emotional girl as it sometimes try to bite , but no worries, python contain no venom. Oh ya, her name is Micky -^^-

Im a girl came from Baling Kedah which is a rural area that recently have been developed very fast that every time i went back to my hometown there will be new buildings and less trees . It is not the same hometown which i grew up. This make me sad.

Believe ut or not im the eldest among my 8 siblings 😁 . But i have an attitude like im the youngest.

There's is a hot spring in Baling ,so you all are welcomed to this beautiful place to relax and have fun with nature .

I sincerely thinks that i took biology subject and choose to deal with zoology because it is a subject with endless exploration and everyday new knowledge and specimen or even new species will be found. Which need a zoologist to study and explain it to the world. Which i think it is an important job.

My favourite animal is fish because it makes me feel calm and relax in a way. Maybe because im a pieces.🐠

Hi everyone! My name is Yun Fen. You can call me Yun as well.
I’m from Penang. Been staying in this island for 22 years. Like what my MUET teacher said once, Penang people are weird people as they like to stay in this little island and don’t really like to go and live anywhere else, not even Butterworth. It’s funny to say that but it’s true, at least for me it’s true. I love Penang.

Why Biology? Well, like what Jia Li mentioned before, because I don’t really like Maths, Chemistry sometimes seems complicated to me and my Physics is poor. Hahaha. I wanted to take Veterinary Science in the first place as I love animals especially mammals. However, since the course was not offered to me, Biology sounds great too as in Zoology we can learn more about
other animals.

I’m a happy-go-lucky person so I laugh a lot, I guess. It’s
nice to know you all. :)

1) Where do I come from?

I come from the Northernmost state of Peninsular Malaysia, that is, Perlis.

2) Why did I choose to study Biology?

Because I'm horrible at Mathematics and are tired of its antique of keep asking me to find their "X"s and the reason "Y". And also, Biology has always been my favourite subject since I was first introduced to it.

3) What is my interest?

I spent most of my leisure times reading mangas online, or playing video games, tho I wouldn't call myself a hardcore gamer.My biggest interest in life would be going to Japan at least once in my life because I was fascinated by their culture and technologies.

(Since I'm not the type to take selfies, here's a picture of me which I scooped right out of Campus Online, I hope it'll do)

I choose biology because I really enjoyed myself learning about the living things. I hate learning physics because for me it is too static. Even I really like biology, I did not score well in secondary school. I choose Zoologist because it have never ending chain. The system will keep rolling and sometimes we can see the changes occur. I enjoy my self when watching National Geographic channel and imagine one day that I can be like them.

I like reading novels and comics. I have bunch of them at home. Feel free to borrow them.

I think I'm gonna love this subject as much as the others.

At this point, I think the reason why I choose biology, because biology is something we study that bring us(human) close to our Creator. To be honest, after studying in biology for several years, I feel appreciate for everything that I have.

I love animals but I never had an intention to pet them. For me, God has created every living things in this world with their on ability,so do the animals. In my opinion, petting them just make things become worse because human could not fully understand them eventhough we have some knowledge in behavior for the certain animal. So let them live freely and happily. Hehe

The reason I study biology is because I like animals. They are very unique and I always question myself 'Why do they appear like that' 'What are they thinking right now' 'Is there any lifeforms like this on other habitable planets' blah blah blah.. so... yup... biology :|

I do play a lot of video games :D Occasionally, i would read some articles or documentaries about animals or urban legends if i find it interesting.

I'm taking BZT311 because it is one of our core subjects but it also gives me the opportunity to gain new knowledge.

Why I choose Biology? Emm... Actually I still can't believe i'm taking this course now but for sure all those calculation, Mathematics, Physics, Accounts ect, are not too friendly with me. I hate numbers.. sob. By the way, biology is far the most interesting subject than those calculation. Hahaha...

I choose Zoology as my major course because I think handling animals is more challenging and fun. I love to observe animals (and people ...hehe ) but to touch them, I need time to get used to.

I taking BZT311 because it is one of subject that is compulsory for me. But don't worry, I think I will like this subject and trying my best on it. :)

The reason I'm taking biology is because I love to explore about living things (how they life, what they do to survive,etc). It makes me feel appreciates for everythings that had been creates by Allah swt.

I'm taking BZT311 because it is one of the compulsory subjets but it also one of the new subject that is interesting.

I guess, i choose to study Biology because I can't deal with calculation, not good in arts, afraid of handling chemicals. I just love to memorize things and creates colourful mindmaps ^-^ .

I also dream to visit all the wild parks and zoos all around the world. Recently, I just did an internship programme at The Lost World of Tambun Petting Zoo. It was the best experience I had in life because it was the first time I get the chance to get closer towards variety of animals. In future I hope I can contribute more in this field especially on saving the endangered species. Honestly, I don't want to see a world without animals. They make this planet alive!

Last but not least, I picked this course because I'm into vertebrate animals especially mammals. Plus, I want to learn more about the pest species in the world :)

Anyway, hi! My name is Cheng Wan Qiao, or you can call me Amabel. I come from a small town called Klang, situated in Selangor.

It has always been my dream to be a zoologist since I were in my secondary school. Therefore, when it came to the time that we need to choose the course and university, I had already known what to choose haha. I love animals very much and I found them fascinating and beautiful. Unfortunately, some of the species are threatened with extinction. It deeply saddens me to see all these to happen. Therefore, it has always been my dream and something close to my heart to be involved in conservation field.

During my free time, I love reading and painting. For your information, my minor is fine arts. I love painting and designing. So wildlife and arts are my passion. Imagine a world without wildlife and arts! Oh man it's gonna be a dull and boring place don't you think?

Why am I taking this course? Well, it's compulsory but I believe it is gonna be fun! I believe there are many things that I can capture from this course which are invaluable and useful for my future.

My full name is Nasrul Asyraf bin Ruslan and I'm 21 years old. I got several nicknames in different places but here in USM, my friends just called me Nas. I lived in southern part of Penang Island. During my secondary school, I really loved Chemistry and History subjects. Biology subject seems quite boring at that time. But during my matriculation, I found that Biology is not as boring as I thought it might be. The only reason why I'm taking Zoology as a major was I really love animals. I also found that it is interesting for being able to work among them. Cheers !!!

·  Hi, I’m from a quite small town called Tuaran, Sabah.  Literally, it’s a town little underdeveloped, but I like the environment there, green and fresh.  The reason I pick biology is simple, I like the nature and animals around me. Plus I grew up around forest surrounding me that makes me love the nature even more.  In uni, i prefer do practical and fieldwork over reading, because I find that reading really makes me sleep a lot. In life, maybe in future I wish that I could travel around the world and observe and learn more about our nature.  The reason I pick this course, one is because it’s my compulsory course and second, I do like to take any course that related to animals. The reason why i chose to study Biology because i already frustrated to be a lawyer. But being a biologist is quite interesting. 

My biggest interest in my life would have my own boutique and have my own label for muslimah clothe.

I took this course for this semester because i want to fulfill my core course and i want to learn more about vertebrate pest control. So that, i maybe can help my father to solve his problems at his bananas plantation because he had many problem according to vertebrate pest. Just ask me if want to know more about me :)

Why i m taking this biology as my degree because i thought science biology was just like helath science, but then it gets me wrong . I love biology since matriculation and i dont know why . Assalamualaikum wbt and hi everyone

Just so everyone know , my name is quite long and to make it less complicated ,just call me puteri or 'put' for short .There's no way I can explain about the origin of my family whether i am a real princess or princess-to-be hehehe :P

Currently, I'm staying at Kulim ,Kedah but I was originated from Penang .

Why am i interested studying in Biology is because literally ,I think I have a strong passion in studying Biology and maybe I was fated to be in this course .During my secondary school , I was able to achieve not-so-high marks in Biology papers compared to Chemistry and even Physics and sometimes I have failed them :P .

At this point , I manage to encourage myself to love animals and study their behaviours and physiology . I'm taking BZT 311 which is vertebrate pest this semester because it is one of the compulsory subject in Zoology ,of course and I will try my best to perform well in oncoming examination and of course my first -to-be experience FINAL YEAR PROJECT soon .

I really enjoy doing internship at Institut Veterinar Malaysia (IVM) because I learn a lot about livestock animal on how to handle animal, doing management & treatment.

I falled in love with sheep there. They are really cute. 🐑🐑 All the animal are mystery that we can discover. Hopefully this course can help me gain more knowledge in handling & control the animal.

I wish I can be an entepreneur in this field .

why did i choose to study bio

I’m from the most south part of Malaysia, Johor Bahru, neighbouring to Singapore. It is a bustling city where land reclaimation and urban development happens at a startling rate. The pace of urbanisation is relentless and where large patches of mangrove forest used to lay, their tomb of concrete and cement the only hint of their passing.

I studied biology because it encompasses the study of animal and nothing excites me more than learning about the way nature has shaped her creatures, beautiful or strange. It is something tangible, things I can easily see with my eyes and unpredictable which makes the study more intriguing.

I took the course to learn about the biology and control of vertebrate pest. It would be interesting to learn about little known vertebrate pest that wreak havoc in other countries and consequential pest local and abroad.
