During the kick-off we presented our utopia-dystopia for the future world. My utopia is that with the use of alternative materials and inputs we can solve the problems (a few at least) of the world. The dystopia that I see is that we are going to kill the planet first and ourselves afterwards.  An eyeopener was the statements workshop: taking position a discussion would take place letting you see the other side of the coin.

The theoretical class on Thursday was really inspirational. The presentation about the alternative economies was interesting an opened my eyes over the different perspectives and approaches and possible solutions that you can have regarding the economic system and the problems that come with it.

What I really liked about the first week, and the first impressions of the class is that everyone is motivated and open for discussions. The variety of inputs during class also helps to have a wider picture about the topics.

I’m also looking forward to the conference BunB on the 20th. I think is a really good exercise for the public event we will hold at the end of the minor.

I found really inspiring how each one of us brought a different idea and type of manifesto depending from the department from where we come from, we had a wide range of examples.

We also started to prepare the workshop at BunB thinking about which format we want to use and how we will actually do it.

 

It’s also time to start thinking abut a subject for my research and project.  Materials that are a by product from the industry interests me, I worked already with fish skin and tuned it into leather, I also had a project about ceramic and milk as glue: this is something that I would love to develop further and maybe find a different use for the tons litres of milk that are thrown away.
