The grand canal was a waterway spanning over 30,000 miles. Confucianism's values celebrated manual labor and community service, but on account of a surplus of Confucian literature bureaucratic expansion gave way to the scholar gentry. The Song Dynasty was very invested in rendering education available to all males throughout all classes, and thus the civil service exams became a popular gateway to success and fortune. Li Bai continues to be an acclaimed poet who further perpetrated the China's admiration for literature and academics. However, the introduction of Buddhism threatened this way of life with its naturalistic principles, emphasizing experience over formal education.

The Grand Canal opens up a trade road for different local areas along the canal. This also creates a way how the cultural knowledge and traditions spread. This is a significant representation in Chinese history.
Civil service prevents the possible inner corruptions in the government (at that period of time). This is a very significant creation for Chinese education because this paves the way for the exam system for us nowadays.
Li Bai, famous poet, loves to drink wine, knows how to use a sword. He's a character in Chinese history that is representative for a famous poet, just like Su Shi in the Song Dynasty.

T. S. - Cultural diffusion will be successful from China in all three of these. The canal transport goods and ideas. The exam measures education and poetry reflects it.
T. S. - China has done well enough in the Tang dynasty to build a canal, promote jobs through merit and allow for time to write poetry like Li Bai's writings.
T.S. - China was a leader in global economy and culture.
T.S. - China's success is never ending.
