Our first project was to create a short film with only 10 shots. When I was editing I had trouble staying under the 10 shots limit. Our short film was a comedy shot In a reality tv way. We used a camera, tripod and a light, I really enjoyed figuring out all the diffrent buttons on the camera and perfecting the shot.

I had an acting role and I helped out with the directing as well. Acting in front of a camera was a strange experience, it was uncomfortable at first but I quickly became comfortable and I had a great time.

Audio was our biggest challenge because we forgot to turn on the mic, thankfully we realised in time but we had to re shoot a few scenes. Honestly it was probably for the best because the re shoots were a lot better in my opinion.

The best method of lighting is the 3 point lighting. 3 point lighting is two lights placed at the side of the subject and one light placed behind the subject.

3 Point Lighting

One of the side lights is called key light, a key light is the main source of lighting, it's usually the brightest.

The other side light is called a fill light, a key light on its own creates a harsh shadow on the other half of the subject. A fill light os added because it fills light onto the other side of the subject.

The back light is used to bring the subject out from the background and it adds depth of position. With out a backlight a subject can look very flat.

High Key & Low Key Lighting

The main difference of them are high key is bright and low key is dark.

The effects we achieved are low and high contrast with the subject and it gave the subject a dramatic look.

Equipment- We used three barn door lights and a Sony camera (k80)

I was working on the back light with another person, we had to swap the light with another one because we weren't able to change the colour on the first one.

Going forward I'll use this technique on all of my productions
