I think this can be achieved, with careful attention to potential sensitive issues, by allowing students to explore issues through their nationality or a cultural influence in their country.

When asking a discussion question, I like to give everyone a google slide, and allow them to answer the question based on their home country.
**I'm thinking more of geography or cuisine than more sensitive issues like migration

The story of your name activity

Students go home and ask their parents what the story of their first name and last name is. Then they come back and share with the class what that is. After that we talk about the different naming practices around the world. This is a small example valuing the students diversity and exposing them to the diversity around the world. Of course, those values need to be nurtured every day and not just in an activity.

So, culture affects the student a lot more in Asian countries than American students.
