I think it's a beautiful scenery of an imaginary world. It seems like a cool place to live and have adventures in.

- in this world, there is the capacity for travel between worlds/dimensions
- the idea of travel as we know it (physically) operates on a time/space idea of portals and teleportation
- this is not earth; another planet/solar system/galaxy or universe.

What do I wonder?
- why is this girl here?
- where are her parents?
- what is her home world called?
- how is she breathing?
- how often does she come here?
- is she the only one who can do this type of transportation?

I wonder why the girl chooses to leave her seemingly bright, warm and pleasant setting to enter the dark, cold and empty devoid of the rocky planet? in saying that there is something nice and peaceful about the 'emptiness' of the rocky planet

The little young girl lying comfortably on the sleeping totoro. The surroundings seemed like totoro’s usual habitat where nature hugs them all to sleep. The atmosphere appears to be peaceful with various flowers and and plants hugging them cozy.

What do i think?
Must be nice to be there haha. How does the girl feel? Right after entering such a foreign world? I think the greens laying beneath them must be really comfy for them to sleep so soundly unguarded.

What’s the temperature or breeze like there? How does it feel to be in such a peaceful and quiet place? How does the environment/surroundings/habitat looks like beneath outside the movie screen? What do I think?
I think of what it must be like to roam through the inside of a tree trunk. It is one of my favorite childhood books, and I still remember reading it for the first time, and yearning for this world where fantasy meets nature. 

What Do I wonder?
I wonder if the author had a time period in mind? If even getting a back story would ruin the child-like fantasy that has stayed with me? I wonder if I found the staircase, would I go down it? Is this world connected to understandings of religion, ie Christianity and Christmas (with the Christmas garlands)? I see some sheep relaxing in some paddocks, I see some digital flowers and a blue perrimeter around the paddocks as well as a fence. The sheep are in various positions maybe dancing? 

What do I think?
I think about the blue that runs around the edge and if it is meant to be water or sky, I think about the relationship between the sheeps. I think about the farming practices today and agricultural needs. I think about CGI and digital images. I like the linear lines in this image

I wonder about a sheeps ability to dance, I wonder about vegan / alternative milks and why I love goats cheese so much??? See: I see a large gate/fence that surrounds a house and big garden. The gate looks worn down, covered with vines, and has a sign at the entry saying 'private property'. the sign is rusting and falling off. the house in the background is also 'damaged', where the windows and door are broken/smashed. 

Think: I think the house/property has been abandoned, and therefore has been vandalised and damaged over time. its worn down appearance hints mystery at those who pass by.

My drawings reflect how I drew  it and with varying degrees of success but definitely don't realistically look much like the object itself. I liked changing the way I hold a pencil and noticing how much it effects the outcome of the drawing. I felt more aggressive when i gripped the pencil with my whole hand versus when I lightly held it at the top and just let the tip of the pencil meet the paper. I preferred the feel of drawing while gripping it firmly and making straight edgy lines but I prefer the outcome of holding the pencil loosely. I think that is because the hard edgy lines were more difficult to reflect the object. Piccinini presents with familiar but unknown forms, calling on us to undo our learnt hierarchies of humans over animals - both of which are largely viewed as more important than the planet itself. 

Both Piccinini and Donna Haraway bring to the fore the idea of the Anthropocene: the degradation of the environment due to human involvement, and a human-centric views, where the focus is on how the environment can be used for human consumption, as opposed to the opposite, which would mean caring for the environment. This means we should radically care for the environment in a way where every life form and its home is given value. Donna Haraway's "compost children" shown in the video puts forward that our ways of caring should transcend the boundaries of nuclear family bonds, heteronormativity, and oppressive systems. 

For Piccinini, to extend our notions of care, we should look at boundaries of what is seen as "human" and "non-human". Thus, along with Harway's work, we can reflect upon taking up a hybrid approach to care as "kin". 

In looking at both Piccinini and Harway, I wonder if reflecting upon speciesism would enable us to undo human-centric approaches to saving the environment. Or would this approach combined with other non-dominant knowledge better pave the way for a thriving planet?

In doing so we learned that sound is an embodied multi-modal experience. We completed two exercises. One involved using charcoal and drawing with our bodies, by placing the charcoal between our toes. When we moved to holding the chalk in our hands, a track was played and we responded to that with our bodies.  The other activity involved drawing with chalk around our bodies. We listened to our music for this. 

See 
We used all our senses in the process of drawing. For the charcoal activity, as the music became more intense, my lines became jagged and close together. In contrast, where the music was soft and the sounds sparse, my lines were organic. 

Think
As I was drawing with chalk around my body, I was listening to a playlist that I made in preparation. One of the songs was called a "gay bar" by Rosie Tucker. The guitar has a somber rhythm, and I moved the chalk around my body, in my embodies listening experience. I thought of how the song alludes to a calm afterlife, and that my markes on the paper were rounded and considered. 

Wonder 
I wonder if I can apply the process of embodied listening to my first assessment, as I consider the type of world I would like to build. There is actually quite an abundant flora and fauna population here
I think- that sitting and experiencing the presence of the environment gives a sense of peace and freedom. When you take away the school aspect, you can feel one with the natural environment around you by taking time to observe

I notice when I go outside and walk, it feels as if there is more freedom in what I can draw. Instead of confined by the walls of the classroom there is an endless amount of inspiration I can take as I can continue to walk. 

I think that this helps you break out of routine and what you would usually draw. It inspires you to be influenced by different things. 

I wonder how we can incorporate this process into our own everyday practices.

Walking around campus with the audio tour was informative into how much the natural landscape has been transformed and designed for the current world. It was also interesting to explore how Melbourne University has maintained native flora, such as the two large gum trees, while also introducing new plants onto the grounds. Personally, I experienced freedom in choosing what to observe and draw. Unlike in our class (weeks 1 & 2) where we followed audio guides that restricted how we drew, the walk allowed us to draw what we wanted through our own perceptions. I also explored flow by walking around the space and abstractly depicting my sensory experiences through a sound map. My imaginary world illustrates Earth as it heals and recovers, and brings up questions of how our societies, lives, and coexistence will evolve with it.
