logan Miller- Baba and Amir came to the U.S. in order to save themselves from the dangers that are back home in Afghanistan. But in doing so they had to leave their home and everything that means behind to begin completely anew. This causes Baba to have to come to terms with having lost not only his wealth, but everything he has spent his life creating. I also believe that with the loss of Baba's wife, (Amir's mother) Baba had connected the world around him in order to deal with her death. And leaving his home, his world, he had truly lost her. it was this coupled with the loss of his home that drove baba's health into degeneration (which was also a physical representation of his depression). While this is true, Amir came to America in order to try to bury his past, to forget the horrors of his former home, and to forget what he had done to Hassan.
