-Know how to pronounce your students’ names correctly. I have students record how to say their names on Flipgrid and tell me a few things they want me to know about them on the first day of school on their recording.

-Use morning meeting as a time to build a strong sense of classroom community. Start each morning with a greeting when students greet each classmate by name. Then have a strategic share so peers can learn about one another. Students also know that they can always share something they want to celebrate at morning meeting. Morning meeting is also used as a time to establish house rules and norms for behaviors.
