I like that learners can be more in control of the things they want to share and that parents can communicate back. 

I did have something arise that I talked with the early team about. A learner saw that her mom had responded with a heart emoji on one of her pieces of work. The learner is super excited and wrote back, "I love you Mom" and then put some emojis of her mom's favorite things. I approved the comments because I know the family had a conversation and were excited about the way they communicated to one another. It seemed very developmentally appropriate for a 5-6 year old, but I'm not sure it falls under the "quality" umbrella.

I really like the idea of SeeSaw, but am honestly super stressed that everything posted needs to be high quality. I'm just showing my learners how to use it, so some of the things I plan to do our simple, silly activities. They have expressed that they like that it tells them specifically what skills they are working on and what comes next (although I don't follow that order, necessarily). 

The IXL skills for ELA at the "K" level does not match up with what I am helping my learners with right now. I'm focusing on letter sounds, IXL focuses heavily on letter names, which can make some confusion happen. As an alternative to IXL for ELA I've had my families do Teach Your Monster and Epic for exposure, exposure, exposure. I do foresee myself using the ELA side of IXL more in the spring. I often times have my laptop and iPad logged in at once so that I can use the "whiteboard" sharing feature. That way my learners can still see me speaking, but also see the board.

Sometimes learners draw on their iPad with me and that can confuse the other learners. Is there a way to make it so that can't happen? They are pretty good about following expectations now, but when it happens it really throws a wrench in to learning!
