Distantly he could hear the swoosh of an opening door. He ducked behind a desk as something slowly shuffled past him, once he was sure it was gone he left the desk and opened the door it came from. A small hallway leading to a big checkpoint marked “HEAVY CONTAINMENT” He knew it was the only way out but he was still very apprehensive about leaving after all the guards who had been stationed there were slumped on the wall with their necks at an unnatural angle. Aleks (d-1745) quickly searched the pockets of the guards for their keycard that could get him into heavy containment. As he was searching he heard a horrifying sound coming from the other side of the checkpoint and getting louder. It was a horrible grating sound, stone on stone. Aleks surveyed the room and found that there was no actual hiding place were every he went there he was still vulnerable in some way, thinking over it now he realized it probably wasn’t the greatest of ideas but it was too late now. By the time he had reached the door that… THING would have caught up with him. He went to the windows by the side of the checkpoint and tried to hide between the door and windows. As the grating grew louder Aleks shuddered. It was like nails on a chalkboard. It made him cringe and made his head ache. If he screwed up now there was no hope for him. He finally heard the dreaded sound of the thick steel door that separated him from the horror open. He held his breath and averted his eyes. He heard a large amount of gunfire and the scream of someone. He looked at the door, a guard in a gray suit dashed passed him. He had almost made it to the door when the concrete sculpture caught up with him and snapped his neck. He made something similar to a cry for help before collapsing. Aleks took a look at the SCP to figure out which one it was so he could properly get away. Beneath a spray-painted foundation logo was the words “SCP 173” he believed he had heard about that one, if he remembered correctly he knew he had to look at it to keep it still or it would snap his neck too, however, he would have to risk running past other SCPs. On the other hand, he could try to hide where he was already. He decided to do that so he could get the keycard in the guard’s hands. He wedged himself even further into the corner and closed his eyes. If he got found he would be stuck. The sounds of the grating were incredibly loud for a second before slowly fading. He inched towards the security guards’ corpse, the head was bent at a wrong angle, a wave of nausea washed over Aleks. He closed the eyes of the security guard, he grabbed the keycard from the hand of the security guards’ hand. He swiped it over heavy containment and hoped that the noise wouldn’t attract anymore SCPs. He dashed the whatever-it-was-that-broke-out would have been too close. his two options were to ask a guard what the SCP was, then try to figure out a way to stop it or just run to the nearest exit. As he was running he heard the pitter patter of something behind him as he crossed the intersection he assumed it wasn’t a guard, most of those had died when the gates stopped working. He ran faster down the hallway finally coming across a door in the hall. He entered the room and held the door shut so the door couldn’t be opened. Inside he saw a panel that identified whatever had been in here as “SCP 096” Reading the description of the SCP he realized that the weird walking he had heard in the hallway was undoubtedly it. He also read that whoever saw 096’s face would die a gruesome death. Getting out of here would be more difficult than he had expected however as long as he looked away he would be fine. He opened the door an dashed down the hallway. Looking over his shoulder he saw the dark silhouette of the horrid disproportionate man-thing. Using his keycard on another steel door he entered another floor. This floor, however, contained chairs, tables and resembled an office with many hallways. A sign said “ENTRANCE ZONE” this was it. If he could just obtain a better keycard and find the exit gate, he could get out. He could escape the facility, he had already passed light and heavy containment so he would have to just keep going after he escaped he would no longer be recognized as a prisoner, as D-1745 but would have a life, a name, and not just be a lab rat.At this point, he was rummaging through the corpses in the hallway trying to see if one had a key card to the exit gate, though the sound of the grating and pitter patter rushing up and down the halls made it extremely difficult to get what he needed. After finally finding a key card he had to be quick and get to the gate and leave before the rough SCP’s find the exit. After rounding a corner the hallway started to widen and it led to the massive exit gate which looked more like a vault door. He swiped the key card on the scanner and the door began to open. The creaking of the door opening was followed by a blinding light. He was so overjoyed he didn’t hear the grating coming from behind him. *SNAP* Following the breach of containment several rumors of a monster that only moved when looked at began to circulate around the area until it was eventually forgotten. However, the creature had all but stopped existing.
