As the Patient is only cared for by their RN, there is no worry for improper delegation but the RN's can also become overly taxed with assisting patients with ADLs, or performing Administrative duties. The ACP/PCT is generally assigned patients, and is delegated tasks by that patient's RN. The ACP/PCT  assists with ADLs and other basic care needs but is unable to assess the patient of administer medications.
Given the same staffing conditions, the addition of ACP/PCTs has been shown to increase the amount of serious infections in patients on some units.
