The Love Nest john steel

Along with "Ain't We Got Fun", Which is played by Klipspringer (who lives with Gatsby) While Gatsby, Nick and Daisy are over at Gatsby's mansion, Klipspringer plays the song "Love Nest" by John Steel. There was most likely romantic tension in the air because of the songs lyrics relating to Gatsby and Daisy's relationship and thoughts about each other. As the song goes in detail about "the love nest" and how it relates to romance. The mood would be a bit romantic because of the general idea of what this song is trying to portray

When Gatsby invites Nick and Daisy over to his house, he asks Klipspringer, someone who lives in his mansion, to play a song for them all. One of the songs he plays is "Ain't We Got Fun" by Van and Schenck.
The song itself is about the life of a married couple that experience some negative situations in their life, yet they still manage to make the best of it especially with each other. The song creates a lively sort of mood.

Sheik of Araby - Harry B. Smith

This song is sung by a group of girls in central park as Nick and Jordan drive through. Coincidentally as they drive through discussing about Daisy and Gatsbys love, the group of girls sing "I'm the Sheik of Araby, your love belongs to me. At night when you're asleep, into your tent I'll creep" (Sheik of Araby) The writer made the it sound as if the person is pursuing someone that he loves, as Gatsby does for Daisy. This creates a casual mood between Nick and Jordan, however it did in a way, correlate to Gatsby and Daisy's relationship.

Hand In My Pocket- Alanis Morissette, Alternative Rock

This song relates to "Ain't We Got Fun" by the same atmosphere despite the situation which both songs confront. Morissette describes how through all the downs in life, she remains optimistic "I'm broke but I'm happy, I'm poor but I'm kind, I'm short but I'm healthy"(Morissette) The beginning in the song demonstrates the same attitude as the one used in the novel, remaining optimistic despite life's shortcomings. Like the song in the novel "Landlord's mad and getting madder, ain't we got fun? Times are so bad and getting badder, ain't we got fun"(Van and Schenck) The song would create a similar mood because of the upbeat objective and hope that is displayed throughout the song. There would be a similar mood as Gatsby, Nick and Daisy would continue to feel this sort of optimism, against the worlds downsides and though Gatsby riches are intact, the song would still brings out a positive outlook side for him.

Adele- One and Only, Soul

Within the lyrics, there are similarities to Sheik of Araby. Adele talks about how her love interest is always on her mind and how she wants him to be her one and only, she dares him to be, "You've been on my mind, I grow fonder every day. Loose myself in time, just thinking of your face." (Adele similar to the song used in the novel stating "Your love belongs to me" Both songs demonstrates a person who wants their love interest to be with them and imagines it in their head. This relates to the passion for Daisy that Gatsby shows throughout the novel

Our House- Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Folk

The idea of these two songs are very similar to each other. Both "Our House" and "The Love Nest" give details about the house that the couple lives inside and makes romantic song out of just a place to live. "There's a ball room, dream for two, better than a palace with a glided dome, is the love nest, you can call home" (John Steel, The Love Nest) In "Our House" it gives details of the home they live in, and display their actions through the house. "Come to me now and rest your head for just five minutes, everything is good. Such a cozy room, the windows are illuminated by the. Sunshine through them, fiery gems for you, only for you." (Our House, Crosby Stills and Nash" If this song were to be played, it would also create a romantic atmosphere being similar to the song "The Love Nest"
