I recommend this book to anyone. A House For Mr. Biswas is largely a fictionalized biography of the author's father, an ethnic Indian who was born and lived his life in Trinidad in the early decades of the 20th century

I love this book!!). It captures not only the experience of a young boy riding out a hurricane with his sister and parents, but creates a beautifully written and wonderful pen portraits of day to day life in the Caribbean at the time . Akeem

This book is a classic. A good short narrative of being brought up in the Caribbean. Hodge's writing is beautiful and to the point. The multiplicity of motherhood in Cynthia's life rings true for many of us who are familiar with Caribbean culture

This is not an easy read but it is a great one. The book explores colonialism through the lens of cricket. Very interesting.

Moving Into The Light is a collection of impassioned poems  It also reflect concern for the community of the oppressed in the black diaspora. Very interesting reads.

The dominating theme of the story was that the main character's mother was brutally raped at a very young age, resulting in her birth, her existence. This rape affected her mother for the rest of her life, making it impossible to be happy even though she had a very nice boyfriend in New York. Sylis
