Journal Entry 01; Side-effects of COVID

One way or another, every human on the planet has felt the effects and consequences of the pandemic. Whether you live in the middle of nowhere, or in the middle of downtown Manhattan, every square inch of the planet has somehow in some way been affected. The pandemic has not only affected me but those I am close to, and it has made me realize, or at least have a faint idea of what the world would be like without people. In the midst of prime quarantine, I’m sure we all remember when we would go outside and not see a soul. We would drive to Publix for our weekly groceries and no one would be in sight. Going from everyone brewing everywhere and seeing your friends everyday to seeing absolutely no one except those in the house and friends left in pixels on screens within the span of a few mandates was too quick for anyone to process. Every other day I would go outside to play basketball with those I normally would to find no one. It felt like a wasteland, except it wasn’t, it was the reality we all faced. I would hear the sound of the basketball being dribbled outside from my room only to usher outside to catch them and find them being scurried inside. Now that the world is somewhat normal, it ultimately made me realize to not take anything for granted, even complete strangers, as in some strange way they made your life just a bit more complete.

“I believe the invasion was very avoidable, as Russia doesn’t have a well enough reason to invade. I hope WWIII doesn’t start. I mourn for those who live in the crossfire because they do not deserve it.”

“I believe that Amber Heard is a manipulative liar, and is deceiving the jury. Depp should come out victorious.”

Entertainment 01; Breaking Bad

I have been watching breaking bad for the past few weeks and I have to say I believe that it is the best show out there, and is certainly the best show I have ever watched.

The show being about a high school chemistry teacher who was diagnosed with lung cancer and given only a few weeks to live, he decides to get into the drug dealing business to provide for his family who is struggling financially before he goes.

I find the story so interesting down to how some antagonists were flat out introduced, and others no one expected. The show is full of twists, problems that satisfyingly resolve only to be followed by a bigger problem. This show was definitely the #1 thing keeping me entertained.

Journal Entry 02; Naive Me

“Ladies and Gentlemen, we will have to cut this in person a year short, there is a new disease out there, apparently it's called ‘Coronavirus’.” “A cruise ship has been haunted in the pacific due to a new disease in the rise called ‘COVID-19’.” Headline after headline, breaking news after breaking news, the news about the disease spread faster than the disease itself. First one person, then a cruise liner, then several countries, then the world. As naive as I was, I took the disease’s effects on many schedules as a break. However, the remainder of the year that was online was like a mask, covering up what happened outside. So much so to the point where I felt like every time I clicked the “Join Meet” button I was somehow contributing to the growth, when I was told I was doing the opposite. At first processing what happened was out the window, but once summer rolled around and all there was was free time to glare at the new network, it struck me harder than anything before. This was a world pandemic, and I was living in the middle of it. A disease that will end up in history books a hundred years from now.

Entertainment 02; NFL

The NFL was something I really began enjoying around this season, and sure enough it was one of the craziest seasons ever. I got to experience two contenders in the Super Bowl that never got enough spotlight in the championship.

Unfortunately the season is now over; however, the off-season is still pretty interesting as the Dolphins have just received one of the top WR’s in the league.

Watching games on Monday and Sunday nights would always get rid of the blues you would normally get at the start of the week. And now I can safely say I cannot wait until next season.

“When I first heard the news, it felt like a dream. But I soon had to accept the circumstances and doing so I got to move back with my family and make the most out of bad times.”
