After the group members have been selected, I will send home information packets to the parents on what the group will entail. There will be a form for them to sign in the packet. I will also have students sign a form by writing their name on a group "contract" during the first meeting. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>According to Missouri Professional School Counselors and Counselor Educators (2015):<br>Stage 1 involves getting acquainted, setting norms, and building trust.<br>Stage 2 involves working together to accomplish individual and group goals.&nbsp;<br>Stage 3 involves ending the group.&nbsp;<br><br>In stage 1, I will pay special attention to creating a safe space for the students in my group. My main focus in stage 1 will be building trusting relationships.&nbsp;<br><br>In stage 2, I will begin to have the students focus more on the content through various lessons and activities, while still maintaining the trust built in stage 1.&nbsp;<br><br>In stage 3, I would like to have a special celebration to end the group and discuss what the students have learned.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In my opinion, the most beneficial leadership style to use with students as a school counselor is the participative, or democratic, style.&nbsp;<br><br>"Democratic leaders offer guidance to group members, but they also participate in the group and allow input from other group members... Participative leaders encourage group members to participate, but retain the final say in the decision-making process. Group members feel engaged in the process and are more motivated and creative" (Cherry, 2021, para. 9).<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Universality is the most prevalent therapeutic factor present in this group.&nbsp;<br><br>Yalom gives the following definition for universality: "demonstration that we are not alone in our misery or our<br>problems" (Yalom, 1995). &nbsp;<br><br>Corrective recapitulation of primary family groups is another factor present in this group. The main purpose of the group is to help children who share time between different homes. <br><br>Yalom defines corrective recapitulation of primary family groups as: "experiencing transference relationships growing out of primary family experiences providing the opportunity to relearn and clarify distortions" (Yalom, 1995).&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

Learner-Centered Knowledge: The certified school counselor has a broad knowledge base. The certified school counselor must know and understand:<br>(7) environmental, social, and cultural factors that affect learners' development and the relevance of those factors to educational, career, personal, and social development, along with comprehensive school counseling programs.<br><br>It is extremely important for a school counselor to understand how environmental factors can influence a student. This group is meeting this standard as the main purpose of the group is to help students who share time between multiple homes.</div>]]></description>
