In stage 1, I will pay special attention to creating a safe space for the students in my group. My main focus in stage 1 will be building trusting relationships. 

In stage 2, I will begin to have the students focus more on the content through various lessons and activities, while still maintaining the trust built in stage 1.

"Democratic leaders offer guidance to group members, but they also participate in the group and allow input from other group members... Participative leaders encourage group members to participate, but retain the final say in the decision-making process. Group members feel engaged in the process and are more motivated and creative" (Cherry, 2021, para. 9).

Corrective recapitulation of primary family groups is another factor present in this group. The main purpose of the group is to help children who share time between different homes.

It is extremely important for a school counselor to understand how environmental factors can influence a student.
