3    The subconscious conflict of Leo trying not to just reach out his hand for money is fascinating not something I have ever read about before.
4 I think the idea of judgment is really cool that this book delivers from homophobia and Leo standing up against it to the way the punk rockers are talked down on or idolized which is especially cool to me when i love the punk genre and what is for.

The theme is finding your roots because Leo does have a father but he learns that his dad is not his biological dad and he soon learns that King Maggot is his "father" and from that there is a wild ride of finding where you came from.
Another theme is defying the odds because Leo since he had lost his scholarship to Harvard was going to ask Maggot for tutuion that was his main goal but he goes to love King in his own way and decides its not right to ask a man for money.
