Yay! Today was great to brainstorm with colleagues! It would be cool if we invited in a couple students to “practice on.” Us being the leaders of this work, the more practice the better. Then when it comes time to inspire the rest of our educators we will have more concrete examples to pull from to encourage this work. - Johanna

Hi all, these are great ideas. I especially like the idea of running that last activity (choosing a "hook") again as a group. When I think about moving forward, I feel like it might be helpful to jump over to "authentic product". I feel like this might help us to ensure the class stays relevant to the originally identified questions/problems/phenomena. As long as the authentic product is student-created (nod to the agency piece), reflective and connected to the original question/problem, etc. then backwards design may be a great way to keep instructional time focused on these important questions. Hope this isn't too rambling.....I've had a lot of caffeine today.

I'm really interested in exploring jumping to "authentic product" as well. It might help students see "the purpose" at the onset of the adventure.

So I would also love to practice this "hook" activity again with our group as well... But I'm definitely planning on trying out the QFT with my remote class at the end of this week and with my other Alg 1 class at the beginning of next week. I am totally down to provide some samples of responses if you guys are interested in taking a look! I'm a little scared yet very excited about the results but I'm happy that I've decided to move forward with this!
I also think that the authentic product part of the learning adventure is the most natural place to focus on after we've worked with the relevant framing a little bit more. I feel like those two are the largest parts and once we get an idea of what we are looking for and what we can model especially when we present this to colleagues, it'll be easier to piece together the other missing pieces of the puzzle.
I have to admit I am literally so pumped up about all of this... I don't think I felt this way when trying to create learning adventures last year so this is huge. :)
