The war was also super important because it was one of only two times that Russians and Americans were actually fighting directly. The war in the present tense has affected Vietnam drastically and they have never been the same since the economy and government are corrupt and they have a very little economy because of the war and what it left on them. Another effect that is still happening to this day is the tensions between America and Russia. Russia has said multiple times if America interferes with their invasion of Ukraine that nuclear weapons would be launched.
