The theme of this short story was to never give up on someone and something that felt like I have never experienced was adoption of a 3 year old child and since I've never done that, I learned that it may be hard to adopt a child and get used to them. The situation in the book that gave me this window was that the main character had very high hopes and was excited to see her new little brother but he ended up trashing her room and ruining other things.

This dialogue is important because it gives us what the main character and Lou thinks about the artist because for one, they're not happy that the artist are painting on their proclaimed wall and another reason why is because she wasn't even in the area. Another reason why this dialogue is vital is because the 2 boys get to see what the painter is doing and to the reader it seems like the artist is doing nothing but rubbish but soon later in the story they'll find out that their hunch was all wrong.

I chose this connotation because it shows how much the artist was committed to her work. This connotation "Her mouth was full of sky", meant a lot because she was kind of mad that there was kids trying to distract her from her art. Another reason why this connotation is vital is because it seems like she was mumbling and was annoyed by the supper because she also made a negative facial expression when she looked at the plate.

This also proves that the kids want a reaction out of her and by that they mean annoy here until she does something.

This is personification because when the article was talking about the TV and the train drowning sound and roaring it means that the TV and the train was just incredibly loud. This type of personification also meant that there was a fight going on around the TV and the grandma turned up the sound just so she can here the TV and not the fight. The train was roaring because it was stopping at a train station and that contributed to the story because it gives the reader that the situation was incredibly loud.

The figurative language used here is a hyperbole. This is a hyperbole because this is a very big thing talked about in a small mouth. When they say the sky was in a mouth, that would mean that there was no more space and she most likely mumbled or never talked clearly. It also means that the artist didn't really enjoy the plate of food because later she said that she was starving and so hungry. This makes the main character mad that she didn't actually eat the for that was given to her for free and it gives our main character a bad review on the artist.

In the short story Love, the text states, "Her arms were like sticks, and all the life in her seemed concentrated in her eyes, which had dark circles around them and were enormous.". This means that when the 2 boys approached her, she was not looking good and she didn't seem to be that resembling than at school. The hyperbole talking about her arms as sticks doesn't actually mean her forearm was made of wood but it means it was small, thin, and looked incredibly fragile. This gives the reader the envisioning of what the main character and Benny is seeing and helps set the tone that their teacher is obviously not doing very well.

A simile in Half-A-Moon is when Brooke and the blue team is lining. The text states, "Natasha says to me as she leads the Blue Campers out the door, Brooke dragging behind them like the caboose of a train.". This means that Brooke isn't happy to be here at the camp and that she wants to go home because the text is emphasizing that Brooke is being dragged along or most likely slouching. Like the caboose of a train, shes at the end and is not happy in general. This helps the reader understand what Brookes intention is that she is unhappy of being here.

In the story Half-A-Moon, Raven and Brooke are going back to camp after discovering the owner of the lands tree house of a mansion. The weather wasn't good and they had to walk in the rain facing the white spuds coming from the trees at camp, in the text it said, "The black cottonwood trees with their healing balm release more of their white fluff, making it feel like we’re walking in a snowstorm. Our faces and coats are covered. I am walking fast so we can hurry out of the rain, but Brooke can’t keep up, so I slow down, take Brooke’s hand." The simile used here is comparing the white fluff from the cottonwood trees to a snowstorm because the trees were packed with so much fluff, it released so much, it looked like a snowstorm. This also represents the bond between Raven and Brooke because now Raven is looking out for Brooke after all the things they have gone through and it represents the bond they have put together as the story progresses.

This dialogue moves the story because it tells us the mood of how Mercy and the rest of the blue team dislikes Brooke just because shes fat. This also shows the reader how Brooke makes an impact on other campers because she gives others the opportunity to either tease her, or let her be.

Raven didn't want to tell Mrs. Thompson because she wanted to use this scenario to let people know that Brooke is a strong girl and that she faced her fears of discovering the fake land monster in a luxurious tree house. Raven also wanted to this help Brooke back up and tell her what she could do and that the girls back at camp were just scared of her and that if Brooke can prove she faced her fears, she can win some fame and pride.

In the article she explains her heart is vibrating but that usually just means that its beating incredibly fast, In the text it says, "As soon as I see her, my heart vibrates .". The text is saying that Ravens heart is beating so fast that its starting to vibrate. This means that Raven knows Brooke and knows what she can do which is most likely bad, or she knows who Brooke is and knows something bad is gonna happen. The author is telling the reader that Brooke was the one who made her dad leave her mom because the divorce got a little too bad and that the family just stopped seeing each other and that usually means broken or a broken family.

I have experienced a mirror from The Agony House because I have been in a place where I was kind of the new kid or the newcomer in a certain situation which was not school but I was the odd one out. I can tell you that it's pretty hard to make a friend or have someone you know but once you relate to someone, you'll practically try to find them and talk to them out of desperation which is something both me and Denise did.

I learned from this that targeting can be some sort of intimidation tactic to wear and stress the target down and it can work on a lot of people.

This is kind of a poor comparison but in the book, a character was poisoned and that there were only a few more hours until he would die so the people in the book had to hurry their best to make sure the antidote was secured and that the poisoned person would live. I kind of went through this but with less things on the line because it was an escape room that 1 person had to solve this then it would let another person out then so on and so on. This made time very vital because once everyone was freed, there was the room itself to solve.

For example he defended a sensei from a person that was trying to kill him and even though he is incredibly fierce, Himura put a good first impression on him and soon fought him to a battle of the death (No one died).

A metaphor that was in this book was when Yahiko was spectating one of Himuras fights and that the person Himura was fighting had a kid that held a majority of their swords. The kid was Yutaro and Yahiko didn't like him and Yutaro didn't like Yahiko. They both knew this and started calling each other roaches, boars, and every other rude thing to see to a human. They were just relating each other to a piece of uselessness and a weakling. Even though Koaru tried to break up the fight, they never stopped.

Kaoru was expressing how mad she was because not only was that the dojo she trained at and now it's a train wreck, but Himura was the one who did part of that and now it's closing. Koaru said the dojo was closing its doors and that kind of is literal but she was just saying that the dojo was gonna be closed for an incredibly long time.

Like Himura, when he was going against the advanced and lost swordsman, the guy gave him a note to meet him at a Sakura garden and that Himura already didn't like the looks of where this was going. I kind of experienced this because one of my friends gave me an invitation to a sketchy place in Hoffman estates and that I told him that the place doesn't seem right and we probably shouldn't go.

I don't think I would actually have the luxury of this let alone going to an actual dojo and see people fight. Something I learned from this is that you have to have some sort of judge to be there and see if both sides attack legally. I don't think i would ever be able to witness such an event because not only is there not many dojos in America, but you have to time it that you are able to actually see one and not just an empty place.

Himura already has a team of talented swordsman and that they can fend for themselves but if the target is heading for Himuras friends, he will be there in no time. For example, the Edo clan was heading for the dojo Himuras friends are at and that since they left a clue behind, they underestimated Himuras speed and that since Himura got to the dojo first, he was able to fend for his friends.

Something that was explained was that the swordsman that Himura met at the Edo mansion, he was gonna be spectating Himuras fight to be able to see how he fights, his techniques, and to see if he'll be taken down by a person who goes all around Japan, challenging different dojos. This can be a problem because Himura practically has a bounty on him because there are so many people trying to kill him. The worst case is that they all come at Himura and his friends all at once because it would be like defeating a whole army of people just as skilled as Himura.

In the 7th volume, there's a scene where Himura is having flashbacks from the great war where a Hitokiri Battosai was insulting Himura of not actually living up to his name and and slows down Himura and makes him lose focus of whats going on. Back at Kaorus dojo, Sanosuke met a talented swordsman named Saito and he wants to challenge Himura to a fight. With Himura on a walk with Kaoru and Yahiko, Sanosuke has to take him on himself. Sanosuke losses and is beat to the floor when Himura, Koaru and Yahiko arrive and it instantly leaves everyone in some sort of shock. This worries Himura because no one but himself has actually knocked Sanosuke cold in such a short time and hes scared that it might be another familiar face. This contributes to my annotation question because now there are countless amounts of people trying to get Himuras head and none of them actually know when they are gonna strike. With Sanosuke down for the count, Himura has to defend with everything hes got.
