Yes, I would support a ban on phones in school. The usage of phones in school has been a hot-button issue, where school officials are constantly debating whether to ban or allow the use of smartphones during school hours. From my personal experience, my school currently allows the use of smartphones during curriculum time. While this may seem convenient to some students, it has unfortunately led to several negative consequences that are hard to ignore.

For instance, I’ve seen many of my peers secretly using their phones during lessons. Instead of paying attention in class, they scroll through social media apps like Instagram Reels and TikTok. This has caused them to lose focus on what the teacher is saying and has created wide learning gaps between students who pay attention and those who are distracted. This is especially alarming given that we are in Secondary 4 and are preparing for our national exams. These exams are important for our future, and having such gaps in understanding makes it difficult for students to do well. The distractions caused by phone usage can take away valuable learning time that could have been used to ask questions or clarify doubts.

On top of that, the presence of smartphones has contributed to a rise in inappropriate or reckless behaviour among students. With the rise of social media challenges and viral trends, some students are tempted to do things that are dangerous or damaging just to get attention online. A recent example is a TikTok video that went viral, showing a teenager in an American school flushing a binder down the toilet. The binder ended up damaging the school’s plumbing system, and the school had to close for several days due to the broken infrastructure. While this happened overseas, it’s not far-fetched to think similar incidents could happen here. Teenagers' prefrontal cortex, which is responsible for decision-making and understanding consequences, is still developing. As a result, many of them are unable to fully discern what is right and wrong. They may think it's just a joke or a harmless trend, but the consequences can be serious.

Banning phones in school would help reduce the chances of such incidents happening. When students are not allowed to use their phones during school hours, they are more likely to stay focused, participate in class discussions, and take their studies more seriously. It also removes the temptation to engage in dangerous trends or record videos that can harm the school environment or hurt others. However, they are 2 sides to a coin, while some may argue that phones can be useful for learning, I believe that the risks outweigh the benefits, especially when students are not mature enough to use them responsibly.

Therefore, I strongly believe that banning phones during school hours is necessary. It is a step toward creating a more focused, safe, and effective learning environment for all students. By doing so, we allow students to concentrate better, avoid distractions, and reduce the likelihood of getting involved in harmful acts influenced by social media.

No. I would not support a full ban on phones in school because, when used responsibly, they can be an useful tools for learning and communication. Phones allow students to access educational resources like google classroom and sls and engage in interactive learning apps such as Kahoot, Blooket , Mentimeter . Phones also provide a sense of security, as students can quickly contact their families in case of emergencies during school hours . From my personal experience , once when i injured myself during pe lessons, i had to use my phone to contact my parents, as the teacher wanted to inform my parents to take care of my injury. Therefore in my opinion, rather than banning phones entirely, schools can instead set clear guide lines to prevent students using phones during class time by asking them to keep their phones in their bags ,while still allowing access during breaks or for educational purposes. This balanced approach helps minimize distractions in class during class time.

Yes, I would support a ban of phones in school as it would provide students with a cohesive learning environment. In the classroom, many students often do not give their fullest attention to teachers because their attention is fixated on their phones. This can be shown as in an academically driven country, students are studying many hours per day. Therefore, with barely any time for them to do some recreational activities, it would not come as a surprise that students would use phones in the classroom to make up for the lost time they could have had playing games. In my personal experience, within the classroom, I have seen multiple students taking advantage of our teacher's blind spots to use their phones in class. Infact, it has come to the point that they'd blatantly use their phones without regard of their surroundings if it meant they could have more time on their games or social media. As a result, more students would follow suit as with the popular term, "Monkey see, monkey do", which consequently means that the ban on phones in school would remove such distractions in school. Additionally, with more of a focus on school, students would be able to complete their work faster. This would allow them to have more time with their recreational activities and allow them to be better at school.

No i would not support a ban on phones in school . Because there is some occasion that students might need their phone to con\tact to their family. By having a phone students can know what happen in their home immdiately and prevent missing important event. From pesperctive of parents. by letting students having phone , parents can contact their child anytime during recess. From my personal one year ago one time during school after pe i felt unwell and unable to continue my lesson .I was losing all my energy and almost fell down in canteen . Fortunately i bring my phone and manage to contact my parents to bring me home and have rest . Therefore i do not support banning phone in school as it is a necessary tool for students to contact their parents if any emergency happend

Yes, schools should ban the usage of phone during curriculum hours as students will be distracted by the usage of social media, leading to underlying problems later on, such as mental health issues. Excessive social media browsing, also known as “doom-scrolling” through Instagram reels and Tiktok, may lead to addiction issues, as adolescents’ developing brains are particularly vulnerable to impulsive, dopamine-driven feedback loops. Additionally, teenagers acknowledged that being on social media has affected their mental health in varying ways — from skewing their perceptions of beauty, to reducing their attention span, self-esteem and ability to process emotions. According to research conducted by the World Health Organization, more than 1 in 10 adolescents showed signs of problematic social media behaviour, struggling to control their use and experiencing negative consequences. The report defines problematic social media use as a pattern of behaviour characterized by addiction-like symptoms. These include an inability to control social media usage, experiencing withdrawal when not using it, neglecting other activities in favour of social media, and facing negative consequences in daily life due to excessive use. Hence, schools should ban the usage of phones to reduce the mental health implications of students.

No, I would not support a ban on phones in school and this is because it only benefits students for a short while during their school years. Banning phones in school give benefits such as more focus in class but it does not give lessons that may be important in the students' lives. The action could actually make the students have a mindset of only not being able to use phones only in school and can use it anywhere else. They won't learn anything out of it and problems such as cyber bullying may occur more often. Moreover, the world is becoming more digitalized so banning phones in school may also cause students to be left behind in the future due to not much exposure to technology in their schools. Based on my contextual knowledge, I do know that Singapore do not permanently ban phones in schools and instead give strict rules of phone usage in schools and can only be used when a teacher allows it for activities such as blooket, mentimeter or kahoot. They also teach the students on the importance of using our devices and technology wisely. This will lead to more students learning more important lessons in their schools such as using phones only when need to and to be aware of cyber attacks. They are able to learn lifelong lessons that are useful and good to have in their future. Thus, I think that they should ban phones in school as banning phones so not teach the students any useful lessons that they can keep for the rest of their life which is disadvantageous for their future.

No, I would not support a ban on phones in school. In this technological advanced society, phone is an important tool that allows us to communicate and learn. In my personal experience, our teacher will always text in the class group chat to inform us in advance which lab to go to during science lesson. Therefore, we can just go to the science lab directly during science lesson instead of our teacher having to come back to our class to tell us where we have to go. Additionally, we also uses our phone during lesson for educational purposes like doing group projects, playing kahoot quiz and using google classroom. Hence, I think that it is easier and convenient communicating with our teachers and friends online. Moreover, using our phones for educational purposes makes our lessons more interesting and fun for students. Allowing them to focus better in class and reduce the chances of them of falling asleep.

no, i would not support a ban on phones in school as it is a useful resource for learning. for example, students can use their phones to access educational resources such as google classroom, kahoot, blooket and student learning space, which can make learning in the classroom more engaging and fun compared to tiresomely completing stacks of worksheets. these platforms often include quizzes, interactive lessons, and feedback, which help students understand concepts better and keep students awake and engaged. as a result, learning becomes more active and enjoyable when students are given the chance to participate and test their understanding in real-time. on top of that, technology offers a wealth of knowledge on platforms like youtube, tiktok and google. for instance, students can watch science experiments, maths tutorials or history documentaries that help them revise or catch up on topics they find difficult. some students may also struggle to understand certain topics during class, but by rewatching tutorials or explanations at home, they can learn at their own pace and build confidence in the subject. this allows students to explore knowledge outside of the classroom and develop independent learning habits. phones can also help with organisation, such as setting reminders for homework or using planner apps to track assignments. by using phones in a responsible way, students can turn their devices into powerful tools that support their education rather than distract from it. instead of banning phones, schools should teach students digital responsibility and set clear rules on when and how phones can be used during the school day. this way, students learn how to manage their time and attention while still benefiting from the advantages that technology can offer.

I would not support a ban on phones in school because they can be powerful tools for learning and communication. Firstly, phones provide students with access to educational resources, such as research websites, learning apps, and digital textbooks, which can enhance their understanding of various subjects. For example, a student struggling with a math problem can quickly watch a tutorial video or use a calculator app to help solve it. Additionally, phones allow students to stay in touch with their families during emergencies, which helps ensure their safety and peace of mind. Therefore, I fervently believe that schools should not ban phones in school completely and instead , schools should teach responsible usage and set clear rules to prevent distractions while still allowing students to benefit heavily from modern technology.

No, i would not support a ban on phones in school as they can be used for learning and communication. Many students nowadays use their phone for online educational learning platforms such as Kahoot or Quizlet to test their contextual knowledge on how well they know that specific subject after learning in class. This would lead to the teachers also being able to know the different students’ strengths and work on their area of weakenesses regarding the subject. For example, students can use their phones to go on online platforms like SLS or google classrooms to access the online document created by their teachers to help with their learning. They are able to work in their own groups in class to solve and complete the questions together. Consequently, this would make the lesson more fun, interactive and engaging for the students to participate in and they would enjoy the lesson more. Moreover, this can help the students to better understand their subjects and work on them independently. Additionally, parents would be able to keep in contact with their children in case of any emergencies or any important moments. Phones provide a direct and immediate way for parents and guardians to reach their children during the school day. Without access to their phones, students may feel anxious, especially if they know something important is happening at home but can’t get updates or respond from their families. As a result, having a phone gives both the student and their parents peace of mind and a sense of safety.

No, i would not support a ban on phones because they are essential during emergencies. Today, the phone is a crucial tool in our lives. It is not a device just for playing games or browsing the internet, its also how parents connect with their children quickly and effectively. Additionally, having phones ensure that students safety and parents concern can be resolved efficiently. It is like having a lifeline slotted perfectly in our pockets. Now imagine if a student is feeling unwell or has something important that urgently needs the attention of their family, the most logical thing to do is to contact their parents. But Banning phone use would get rid that ability. As a result, their parents will not be immediately informed of their child's situation. Instead of banning phones, i think that schools should teach students how to use their phones more responsibly. If schools want to set stricter ground rules, there should be stricter consequences too. Phones play a vital role in modern times. Why ban phones when they serve as indispensable tools with benefits?

No, I would not support a ban on phones in school, but I do think there should be clear rules around their use. Phones can be distracting during lessons and make it easier for students to lose focus or even cheat during tests. On the other hand, banning them entirely feels too extreme. Phones can be useful for learning, like doing quick research, using school apps such as sls and google classroom, or taking notes. They’re also important for staying in touch with family, especially in emergencies. Instead of a full ban, schools should focus on teaching students when it’s appropriate to use their phones. A balanced approach would help students stay focused in class while still allowing them to use their devices in a responsible way.

No, I would not support the ban of phones in school as it is a source of entertainment for students. Students often feel stress because they have a lot of work to finish. Additionally, they have a packed schedule filled with lessons and co-curricular. From my personal experience, I enjoy to use my phone during lunch break to watch social media. On some days, I will use my phone to play games together with my friends. This allows me to not only bond with my friends but relieve stress as well. This relaxed environment can lead to better focus and productivity in doing their work and learning. In essence, schools should not ban phones in school as it helps relieves stress and strengthens friendships among students. Schools and families should educate the students on how to use their phone more responsibly. As long as they are not addicted to their phones, it will bring out alot of benefits for students and the school.

no, i would not support a ban of phones during school hours. when used properly, phones can have many advantages like making students more engaged and motivated in lessons through websites like sls, kahoot or bloomer. phones can also help bring about more knowledge to students that textbooks may sometimes not have the ability to do so. since we are living in a society where phones and technology are crucial, exposing students to technology can help better prepared themselves when going out into the working world. phones also helps parents, guardians and students feel a sense of security as they could contact their parents or child at anytime if there was an emergency which suddenly came about. therefore in my opinion, i think that schools should set certain guidelines on the usage of phone in school instead of just completely banning the usage of phones in school

no, i would not support the phone ban in school as i believe that phones are able to help students to learn. for example, teachers might have created interactive games and quizzes for students to be engaged and have fun while learning new things in class rather than just reading through our textbooks and listening to our teachers read off the slides that they have prepared. from my personal experience, my chinese teacher always prepared quizzes for our class to test our knowledge on vocabulary words that we have learnt last lesson. this allows us to learn from our mistakes and have fun at the same time, which benefits our studies. some students may learn better when they are more involved in the learning , therefore , showing how phone are beneficial to students. however , critics may opine that phones are a distraction to students. this is because students may get distracted when they see notifications from their phones and have the temptation to use their phones. this might cause them to lose focus in lessons which might make them lose out on important things that their teachers may be teaching. in my personal experience, i have seen my classmate getting distracted because her phone lit up due to a notification. this caused her to miss out on a very important physics concept that my teacher was teaching. therefore, this shows how phones can cause us to lose our focus. however , i believe that schools should just implement the rule of having students to keep their phones in their bags or just out of sight during lessons. but, if their teachers allow them to use their phones for class, they can take out their phones from their bags. this would be a better solution for students, rather than banning phone usage which might cause boredom to students during break times.

Yes, I would support a ban of phones in school, but only during class time. This is because I think that phones are a major distraction for students. Students may end up using their phones to text, scrolling, through Instagram, tiktok or even other applications and even playing games during lessons. When using phones in class, it will have a negative effects on well-being and engagement. This will lead to a poorer academic results, reduce classroom participation. By banning phones during class can help keep the students focus on lessons, and supports a better learning environment. However, I also do not support the ban of phones in school, this is because, students would need to use their phones in some important occasion. For example, to communicate with family members in case of anything serious that might have happened. Moreover, lately educations are done digitally, assignments are given online. Some students may not remember to bring their own personal learning device to school so i think that they would still need their phones to access all their school assignments. Thus, i think that there are consequences with banning and not banning phones in school.

This is especially since Singapore is a technologically advanced country and phones act as an educational tool in our school context. Phones provides access for students to the different learning websites and applications such as google classroom, student learning space and even kahoot. In my personal experience, we will play kahoot after we finish one chapter in history. This acts as a review for the whole chapter, which is also used for revising and refreshing our memory. Furthermore, our phones can be used to take down notes, or to capture photos of notes that we are not done copying. This allows us to save time and it makes it more convenient for us to learn in class. As a result, i feel that phones should not be banned in school as it allows us to learn about the new chapters easily.

No, I would not support a ban on phones in school. This is because phones are an important item in our daily lives now, as we use them to communicate and also to learn new knowledge. Phones have applications like kahoot, youtube and google classroom. Teachers use kahoot to quiz students after teaching necessary content. From my experience, it makes learning more fun and my friends and I got top 3 after the quiz ended where the teacher gave sweets. I felt more motivated after doing the kahoot. Students also can use youtube to watch educational videos that books cannot provide, especially when some are visual learners. And for google classroom, teachers also upload resources there that are required for lessons so that there would be a reduction of paper use. This saves the environment and students would not lose resources compared to when they are given paper worksheets and notes. Moreover, in this technologically advanced society, there is a lot of content that students like to watch on their phone or use social media to communicate with others. Content could be helpful to students and students can use social media to gain new knowlege. Therefore, the phone provides plethora of benefits that students can utilise in school and it should not be banned in school.

I would always try to convince him to not do such acts and if he is too distracted, he can always provide his phone to the subject teacher to stop the distraction. However, he was too reluctant to let go of his phone. Consequently, he got F9 in both subjects and I felt very disappointed in him as I had tried to help. Therefore, I would support a ban on phones in school as they provide as a distraction for students in learning.

No I would not support a ban on phones in school as teachers may use the device as a way to engage the students in learning.Teachers may use the devices to access learning platforms such as KAHOOT and BLOOKLET which are platforms for quizzes that are created by the teachers. From the perspective of the school, they may allow for this as it can help the students feel happier learning about the chapters using fun quizzes. From my personal experience, my history teacher will do a blooklet every Fortnite. My class would always feel excited using their phones to access these quizzes and participate in them. Using their phones gives them a sense of belonging as they get to use what they use everyday to learn. Therefore I do not support a ban of phones in schools as it could help the students learn better.

To ameliorate the problem, from the perspective of government, the MOE.

One major reason why banning phones in school can be harmful is the role they play in emergency situations. During unexpected events like lockdowns, natural disasters, or medical emergencies, having access to a phone can be crucial. Students can quickly call for help if teachers or staff aren’t immediately available, and they can contact their parents to update them on their safety. In some cases, schools also use emergency alert systems that send important updates via text, which students would miss without their phones. Additionally, phones with location tracking can help parents or authorities find students if they get separated or lost. Taking phones away during the school day could delay important communication and even increase the risk during critical moments. Therefore, banning phones may unintentionally put students in more danger rather than protecting them.

Additionally, phones also allow us to keep in contact with our families in case an emergency were to happen in school.

I personally feel that judicial caning is effective to deter scam related crimes as scammers will fear physical punishment more instead of longer duration punishments like just additional jail time . Scammers will be afraid to commit the crime as the consequence would be very harsh if they were caught , and even more afraid to repeat the offence . As a result , there would be less scam related crimes due to the instilled fear of physical punishment set up by the government . Therefore , I fervently believe that judicial caning is required to prevent and deter scam related crimes in the future .

According to the article two of the three personal experiences show that the writers were fearful of being caned and it made them less disobedient and corrected wrong behavior. Because of the fear of caning, it would help make scammers think twice before scamming other people as to specific people, the punishment of pain is more threatening than the punishment of time and money.

I agree. I think that by implementing caning as a measure it would be effective in reducing the amount scam related crimes. Because convicts would be scared of the physical pain that they would need to endure rather than js staying in the jail for 6 month. For example, the Immigration Act was amended to introduce caning for illegal immigrants who overstayed for 90 days and minimum imprisonment reduced from 6month to 3month. As a result, the number of overstayed reduced by 44 percent from 4120 to 2330 in 1988 to 1990. Hence, by implementing caning for scam related crimes convicts would consider the consequences before committing the crime.

From the point of view of the Experts, Criminal Lawyer Josepheus Tan told The Straits Times that he believes that it would have the same deterrent effect as the introduction of caning for loan shark harassment cases which has proved beneficial as the number of loan shark harassment cases has fallen from 11, 776 cases in 2011 to 3, 336 cases ever since the introduction of mandatory caning. I do agree with the expert's statement. From my personal experience, I believe that corporal punishment is more effective than lip service scolding. For instance, in PE lessons, a student who constantly talks would not stop if the teacher just scolded him/her with lip service. However, if a teacher corporally punishes him/her by making him/her run laps or do physical conditioning, he/she would be more inclined to stop, as they do not want to go through the torturous physical conditioning. However, there are 2 sides to a coin, and some critics might opine that the deterrent of physical caning is mixed. Prof Mervyn Cheong opined that, "It will be difficult to say whether the enactment of caning as an additional punishment will deter potential offenders." However, those who subscribe to such views should be cognisant of the fact that, they are already criminals and were issued caning for a reason. What is the point of being so leniant on them when the whole purpose of prison is for them to learn.

In the views of officials, I think that caning is effective measure to deal with scam-related crimes. Firstly, caning can serve as a deterrence. When culprits of scam-related crimes receive caning, they would not further do the crimes again when they come out of prison due to fear and discouragement the cane gives. When caning was introduced for illegal immigrants, the number of overstayers dropped by about 44 percent from 4120 in 1988 to 2330 in 1990. This data shows that caning is an effective measure and would do the same for scam-related crimes. Additionally, caning would be a proportionate punishment where the caning is sentenced according to the offender’s culpability, seriousness of the crime they commited and how the crime has harmed victims. This will be especially effective for scam-related crimes that link to elderlys. Elderlys are more vulnerable, and some could have physical and mental conditions. This makes them easy targets to scammers and the elderlys could lose all their savings. As a result of the introduction of caning for scam-related crimes, the number of crimes can be reduced as the caning serves as a deterrence.

And after long they may suffer permanent physical disabilities. This therefore leads to them thinking that caning is not an effective measure.

yes, canning is a effective measure to deal with scam related crimes as it will leave a huge impression on the criminals, staying as a reminder of their actions. the proportionate punishment ensures that the criminal's sentence is proportionate to the offender's culpability, the seriousness of the crime and the harm that the criminal has caused. there has also been a improvement in the amount of criminals after this punishment has been implied as the number of overstayers fell by about 44 percent from 4120 in 1988 to 2330 in 1990. This suggests how the criminals have learnt from their lesson after learning the fact that they will receive canning if they do anything that is against law. This highlights that the punishment has a huge impact on criminals as they are more intimidated to be offenders as canning will inflict physical pain on them rather than mental pain, which has more effect to offenders. Therefore, it will cause them to be more careful with their actions, lowering the chances of offenders.

Yes caning is an effective measure to deal with scam related crimes. Caning can be used as a form of punishment for those scammers to let them think about the consequences of their actions. This can help to dissuade their disobedient behaviour and teach them a lesson. This deters scams in the future as it shows the severe consequences behind operating in scams. This can be further supported by the members of the public. Through a interview conducted by the IN team, many members of the public had an opinion on the topic. A university student, Mr Bryan Ong,24, said that the more painful caning is

the more scared the individual will be to commit the crime. As a result, less people will be daring enough to challenge the system as the consequences like caning can be dire.

In the perspective of the public, I think canning is an effective measure to deal with scammers. This is because canning is a very harsh punishment for the scammers and this may create a sense of fear in them to not repeat the same mistake again or even dare to do this act. Canning is seen to be an effective way to reduce the number of crimes in Singapore. For example, after the law of the immigration act was introduced to cane illegal immigrants who overstayed in Singapore, the number of overstayers fell by about 44% in just two years. This shows how canning is beneficial for the country as it really decreases the number of crimes that happens in Singapore. Therefore, I believe that canning is an effective measure to deal with scammers so that they are aware of the serious consequences that they have to go through when they do this mistake.

This shows how effective caning can be in deterring people from committing these types of crime. However, some critics might opine that there might be potential offenders who might not bother about it or are already prepared to take the caning when they commit the offence. This offenders are facing other pressures in life such as financial hardship or depression which results to them not even thinking twice about the consequences. Additionally, these critics also feel that there is no evidence that judicial caning has any unique deterrent effect on crime which only makes caning cruel and vicious. Moreover, caning can leave a deep physical and psychological scar on the person which can cause them to suffer long-term or even permanent physical disabilities.

Yes, canning is an effective measure to deal with scam related crime. From the perspective of the experts, criminal lawyer Josephus Tan told the straits times that he believes that it would have the same deterrent effect as the introduction of canning for loan shark harassment cases. Additionally, since the introduction of mandatory caning for first time offenders who assists unlicensed moneylenders in 2010, the number of loan shark harassment cases has fallen from 11,776 cases in 2011 to 3336 cases in 2020. This suggests how the canning is an effective measure to deal with scam related crimes as it serves as a wake up call to the public telling them about the consequences of their actions and many people will tend to be more scared which caused the amount of loan shark harassment cases to drop drastically. As a result, I fervently agree that canning is an effective measure to deal with scam related crimes.

Yes, canning is an effective measure to deal with scam related crimes. Canning can be a way to reduce the number of scams related. This is because some individuals may believe that jailed or fined may not be harsh enough. By canning, it can discourage individuals from scamming as they can be afraid of the consequences that they may face afterwards. For example, the Immigration Act was amended to introduce canning for illegal immigrants who overstayed more than 90 days. Due to this law, the number of overstayers fell by about 44 percent from 4120 in 1988 to 2330 in 1990. Thus, canning can be effective as individuals will be more cautious and careful of their own actions. This is so that they would be scared to face consequences of scam related crimes.

From the perspective of the officials, I do think that caning is an effective measure to scam related crimes by acting as a strong deterrent. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), canning is effective in reducing immigration offences. After canning was introduced in 1989 for illegal immigrants who overstayed more than 90 days. The number of overstayers significantly dropped by 44% from 4120 in 1988 to 2330 in 1990, even though the imprisonment was reduced. This shows that the physical punishment can strongly discouraged potential offenders. Scammers often think that they can get away with their crimes because the consequences are not harsh enough. But if canning was introduced as a part of the punishment that the crimes that have committed comes with painful consequences. As a result, the fear of canning might be enough to stop them from committing or even starting.

From the perspective of experts, they might think that caning will be an effective measure to deal with scam related crimes. This is because they believe that it will have the same deterring effect as when it was introduced for loan shark harrassment cases. This is because the evidence shows that with the implementation and introduction of caning, the number of cases has draastically decreased from 11776 cases in 2011 to 3336 cases in 2020. This evidence will undoubtedly support this claim. However, critics might opine that this is not an effective measure due to the fact that convicts may not take caning into mind. Some of the reasons is due to the fact that the have too much on their mind to worry about the caning such as facing finacial hardships or depression. Critics also feel that there is no evidence that judicial caning will have any unique detrement effect on crime. They also claim that it is "cruel" and "vicious". They added that victimes of caning may have other detremental effects that far outweigh the positive effects. Some of which include the fact that cabubg victims experience extreme pain, fear and humiliation. This is due to the fact that caning causes a victim to suffer with not only the physical but also the psychological scars. Victims of caning are prone to suffering long-term and even permanent physical disabilities due to the impact their bodies' suffer. Therefore this will lead critics to thinking that caning will not be an effective measure.

One example is from Ms Samantha Lee. She said that because of caning, it helped her to dissuade her mischievous behaviour.

I personally feel that caning is not an effective way to deal with scam related crimes. Caning causes an array of mental and physical problems. For example, Caning directly inflicts immensely high pain levels. This can cause severe injuries like bruises and leave lasting scars. The excruciating pain may also leave individuals shocked and weak after multiple strokes. Additionally, Caning can cause indians to be mentally affected. Due to the humiliation they experience, this increases the risk of developing anxiety disorders and depressive symptoms. However, I do acknowledge that there are two sides to every coin. Some critics may opine that caning is an affective solution in dealing with scam related crimes. Caning is seen as an extreme measure, but this comes in handy as it can potentially deter future criminals in an attempt to commit cyber crimes. Due to the nature of scams and its impact on victims, scammers may think twice before acting. However, those who subscribe to such views must note that caning may not necessarily deter potential offenders from attempting to commit scam related crimes. One factor to consider is whether the offender is under the influence of immense pressure in their lives. One example would be depression of financial hardship. Such individuals may not take in to consideration the consequences of their actions and may disregard caning. This is because they are unable to comprehend their feelings and may act rashly, with the mindset that they are ready to face any consequences.

No, I personally would not support a ban of phones in schools. In our technologically advanced society, many students have been exposed to digital devices and the internet at an early age, and have since become normalised with the daily use of smartphones. In the modern day, many parents have used digital devices to teach their children throughout their entire childhood, with some even using them as potential rewards for when their children complete tasks. This can cause them to be attached to their devices and could lead to addiction. The transition from primary school to secondary school can be a great leap forward. Secondary school education systems typically utilise electronic devices to make lessons more hands-on and allow resources to be shared and used seamlessly. As a result, teachers usually require their students to use their mobile devices during lessons. Too much freedom to use these devices during lessons can cause students to go off-track, with some even opting to play games during lessons. The more lenient teachers may just ask for students to put their devices away but the stricter few may confiscate their devices or go as far as calling their parents to head down and collect their smartphones. As such, many schools have implemented phone lockers, where students have to lock up their phones for the entirety of the school day. This can be beneficial as students are given time off from their constant usage and roaming of the internet. However, the rebellious students may choose not to abide by these rules because of their strong connections with these devices that could have been with them throughout their childhood. Therefore, i would not support a ban of phones in school as it may harm students well being due to their emotional attachment with their mobile devices. One solution to the problem that has already been implemented is the use of personal learning devices(PLDs). These can range from chromebooks to ipads. These devices are purchased purely for educational purposes, with specific settings on each device to prevent students from using external applications during curriculum time. I think this is beneficial as students can stay on-task while still being engaged with the hands-on touch to make their learning experiences more enjoyable.

I think that canning is an effective measure to deal with scam-related crimes. I say this because the marks that are left behind after canning will serve as a physical reminder of the consequences of their crimes. Criminals with scam-related criminal record will not forget the intense pain from canning.

From my contextual knowledge, Ministry of Home Affairs(MHA) cited that Prior to 1989, the penalty for overstaying in singapore was imprisonment and a fine. But that all changed in 1989, when the immigration act was amended to introduce canning for illegal immigrants who overstayed 90 days. Moreover, mandatory imprisonment was reduced to 3months. After it came into effect, the number of overstayers fell by about 44% from 4120 in 1988 to 2330 in 1990.

Criminals are powerless in jail. Therefore, they would fear repeating the same offence as they cannot withstand any more strokes of canning.

yes canning is an effective way to deal with scam related scams as it can help instill fear into these scammers which may help them think twice about their actions and help prevent these scams from happening . “ it really happened only when i was super disobedient , but i think it did help dissuade my ( mischievous behaviour ) “ This shows how by canning , it can not only be used as a form of punishment but also as a deterrence so that after their time in prison has been served they would be sure to not repeat such offenses again .

In addition to this , phones are also needed by students in the cases of emergencies where they would have to contact their guardian or parents . However , with that being said , there should be limits on phones so as to prevent it from being a distraction for students which may hinder their learning experience . Thus phones should not be allowed in class unless the teacher informs them that it is needed .

in the perspective of an expert, i think that it is an effective method to use to teach the scammers to be afraid and never commit the crimes again. As caning is a type of physical punishment used in some countries for serious crimes. Some people think it is too harsh, but others believe it works well because it scares people and stops them from breaking the law. Caning can be a strong way to warn others not to commit crimes, and in some cases, it has helped reduce the number of crimes. One strong example comes from Singapore. In 2010, the government introduced mandatory caning for first-time offenders who assisted loan sharks. After this law was put in place, the number of loan shark harassment cases dropped sharply from 11,776 cases in 2011 to 3,336 cases in 2020. This suggests that people were afraid of receiving such a painful punishment, so fewer were willing to take the risk of getting involved in these crimes.

Therefore , this makes Caning an effective method to use to teach scammers not to commit such scams anymore

Yes, from the view of the experts, they agree that caning is a very effective measure in dealing with scam-related crime. Caning adds in a painful and humiliating consequence to their crimes, especially when financial penalties or imprisonment alone may not be sufficient to prevent them from committing them. The article shows that a criminal lawyer Josephus Tan supports this view, highlighting the successful use of judicial caning in reducing loan shark scam cases in Singapore. Since the introduction of mandatory caning for first-time offenders in that area, cases fell dracastically from 17676 cases in 2011 to 3336 in 2020. This shows that the fear of physical punishment can influence criminal behavior more effectively than jail time alone.

i agree. Implementing punishments such as canning is a step towards effectively preventing and reducing the amount scam related crimes. I say this because many criminals would prefer a less painful punishment such as jail time compared to strokes of the cane. An example is whenever a student misbehaves and the teacher gives a verbal warming, most times students do not listen. Therefore, harsher punishments like confiscating their mobile devices. Thus, harsher punishments can further help prevent and reduce such scam related crimes. Hence, i agree that implementing such punishments are beneficial in preventing such crimes.

Yes canning is an effective measure to deal with scam related crimes. From the perspective of Associate Professer Razwana Begum supports canning to be a effective measure. From her perspective, eventhough canning is painful and extreme, it can serve as a deterian deal to the serious impacts scams have on victims. Additional, from the perspective of criminal lawyer, he believes can deter scams offenders in reducing loan shark harassment cases. For example, a number of such cases drop from 11776 in 2011 to 3336 in 2020, after mandatory was introduced in 2010. From these example from the perspective of experts, it hence shows their strong beliefs towards punishment of canning.

The first thing that stuck me from the article is the opening of the Xtreme SkatePark @ East Coast which is is the first skate park in Singapore built to international competition standards. This stood out to me because, the last time I saw something like this was in 2019 before COVID which was opposite woodlands MRT. It was closed due to unsafe concerns due to people misusing it and violence concerns. So, I did not expect such a park to open again.

The second thing that stuck me from the article is embark on a cultural holiday at home. This stood out to me because I did not expect that we would have a trail that would cater to heritage, arts and spiritual agendas. I ardently believe that this is a good initiate to exploring more of Singapore and a good initiative to allow Singaporeans to exercise. This trail offers a unique and different approach compared to usual trails. I fervently believe that this will be a new opportunity and be eye opening to heritage walk patronisers.

The third that struck me from the article is Bathe in Nature. Nature lovers can explore Bukit Timah nature reserve and offer three routes of difficulty. This stood out to me as people can have a variety of paths to try and walk on depending on their level of tolerance that day. This also provides them with multiple choices in future, preventing a feeling of mundane. What also stood out to me is that NParks aims to have 30 therapeutic gardens in parks around Singapore by 2030. This is definitely exciting and I will definitely be looking forward to it as there will be more therapeutic gardens closer to our homes, offering a plethora of choices.

Personally, I do enjoy going outdoors because it helps me clear my mind and take a break from all the stress of school. Sometimes just being outside for a walk, makes me feel more refreshed and focused. The fresh air and change of scenery help clear my mind. I am a student taking my O levels this year, which means I spend alot of my time studying and staring at a screen. It is scientifically proven that talking a walk after 1 hr of studying can help to improve memory retention. I personally like taking a stroll at Jurong Lake Gardens which is near my house, at least once every week. Moreover, I am very introverted. Taking long walks and viewing the amazing greenery and vast ocean gives me a sense of calmness and helps me articulate and ease in my thoughts.

1. The Xtreme skatepark struck me as it is inclusive for beginner or seasoned skaters to hone their skills. With the facility, they're able to practice freely, without worrying about space constraints. Based on my personal experience, I enjoyed cycling at the BMX cyclist park within East Coast park as it was challenging to learn new skills as a developing cyclist.

Additionally, the next thing that struck me was the 36km central loop. It allows locals to explore the heartlands further within their own pace. Through such a loop, locals will be motivated to excesise. Based on my personal experience, I enjoyed hiking the scenic Rail Corridor as it is mentally rejuvenating. I got to explore parts of Singapore I wouldn't be able to if I simply took public transportation.

Moreover the Little India 4km heritage a trail is striking as it exposes culture for the curious. Through such a trail, both locals and tourists can learn more about it's culture and heritage, which is enlightening for them as Singapore is a multiracial country. Based on my personal experience, I enjoyed exploring Chinatown, Little India and Haji Lane back when my primary school organized field trips to such places. It was refreshing to learn more about such cultures through the interactive trails.

I personally enjoyed going outdoors. Nature can encourage mindfulness and a sense of presence, allowing me to disconnect from daily stressors and appreciate the present moment. Additionally, my stress is melted when I focus on the beauty of nature, as it releases Cortisol. Moreover, going outdoors allow me to develop different perspectives of different stakeholders through general observation. From the public's perspective to the perspective of NEA which manages the welfare of the environment.

1a) "Embark on a Cultural holiday". This strike me because it says to have 4km worth of three themed routes of heritage landmarks, which I find surprising because of the amount of land that Singapore has. This also struck me because it shows me the amount of dedication Singaporeans put into preserving their culture rather than just their economy.

1b) "Zip around the island". This struck me because of the massive 36km Central Urban Loop, which passes through Bishan-Ang Mo Kio park, Kallang Riverside Park and Punggol Park. This was by far the longest track I have ever heard of while in Singapore and I surprises me because of again the land space available

1c) "Xtreme SkatePark". This struck me because of all the countries I could think of I would never have expected Singapore to have one because of my interpretation of them. In a country where the sale of bubble gum is banned, I would also had expected something like staking to be banned because of their coloration, let alone be in a busy part of Singapore.

2)I personally do enjoy outdoors because it gives me a sense of enjoyment, as a Filipino, we spend most our lives outdoors for basic household stuff, whether it was cooking, washing clothes, and even occasionally eating. I say this because whenever I go outside, so long as Im in Asia, I will always feel like Im back in the Philippines, enjoying life with my family there. During my walks not only am I relishing my life, but I am also keeping a healthy rhythm. Going out on the sun provides me with vitamin D, and exercising by walking also helps keep me physically active to prevent diseases from entering me.

This is striking because i did not expect the government to build such a long path for people as I've only seen them make paths a few kilometers long before. The second thing that struck me is that there were more than 400 parks and 391 km of park connectors in Singapore in 2024. This struck me because I did not know Singapore had that many parks and such a stretch of park connectors. The last thing that struck me is that i didn't know that bukit batok nature reserve had a elevated deck that allows people to soak in a panoramic view. This struck me because i did not know that bukit batok nature reserve had that.

B)I personally enjoy going outdoors because it helps me relieve stress and also because it is usually hot and stuffy at home, therefore i would want to go out to escape the heat at home.

The first thing that struck me was the Xtreme SkatePark @ East Coast. According to the article, it has a mix of different obstacles for users to hone their skills. It also struck me because the SkatePark is opened not only to skaters, but also inline skaters and BMX bikers. Personally, I would go there one day to try inline skating since that place is a hot spot for beginners as well as seasoned skaters. The second thing that strucked me is the 36km Central Urban Loop. It links several neighbourhoods and parks which makes it good for me if I were to be cycling and wanted to take a break after a while. I also read about how I can take instagram-worthy shots at the iconic Sunrise Bridge in Punggol. As a person who posts on social media, it would be ideal for me to go there and take pictures of the scenery for my feed. The third thing that struck me is the Little India Heritage trail. It is not too long nor short of a walk which would definitely provide physical benefits to the body as well as aesthetic benefits. By walking the trail, I would be able to spot heritage landmarks and learn more about them. In general, I would be able to gain more knowledge about the past as well as knowledge on culture. Since exams are stressing me, walking this trail can relieve the stress that I have on my mind as well.

Personally, I enjoy going outdoors. Outdoors provide scenic beauty which is hard to see from indoors. In my personal experience, I went to Botanic Gardens once and saw lots of floral and fauna. I even saw trees and the information about them. Going outdoors expands my knowledge as well as get my eyes off my gadget once in a while. I also like going outdoors because I get to bond with my friends. In my personal experience, my friends and I went Marina Barrage and we had a picnic as well as played frisbee. Things like these cannot be experienced indoors as when you are outdoors you have a bigger space to play in. While I played with my friends, I felt more bonded with them and I definitely spend a day like that again with them in the future.

This is a very long track and it would be pretty time consuming, including the breaks in between. This struck me because I personally think I will not be able to go through the whole journey, considering the very long track.

(b) Another thing that struck me is the "embark on a cultural holiday at home". This is because we get to go for a deep dive into South Asia, explore the little India Heritage Trail. The 4km self-guided walk with three themed routes includes numerous heritage landmarks. It struck me because there is still a huge heritage site for all of us to explore in Singapore, making me interested in knowing more

(c) Last thing that struck me is the "bathe in nature". This is because we get to go find for a chill spot to hang out which is the wellness garden. I personally love looking at nature. The second thing that struck me was the "walk of the faith" route that explores temples, mosques and churches that reflects the rich multiculturalism of the Little India heritage trail as Singapore is filled with people of different religions. The last thing that struck me was Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, home of the last few patches of rainforest in Singapore, as I have not managed to visit this nature reserve. 2) I don’t personally enjoy going outdoors, mainly because I prefer calm, controlled environments where I can focus and stay productive. Outdoor settings often come with distractions like noise, unpredictable weather, and crowds, which can be overwhelming. I also find indoor activities more intriguing such as playing games , reading or working on other tasks in a quiet space feels more fulfilling to me than being outside. This is especially since Singapore is a multicultural country, it will therefore foster inclusion of the various cultures.

Lastly, the Xtreme skatepark struck me as it is a place where all beginners or amateur skateboarders can all gather and skateboard together.

1.The article shows how Singapore’s public libraries are evolving into vibrant community hubs, with a record 38.8 million items borrowed in 2024 and millions attending events like Book Bugs for children. It also sheds light on the worrying rise in youth drug abuse, with cases involving teenagers as young as 13, stressing the urgent need for early education and support. Among the most inspiring stories is that of Mikail Wong, a former taxi driver who became paralysed but found new purpose through wheelchair rugby, supported by his devoted wife, an uplifting example of resilience and the power of community.

2.I do not personally like going outdoors, as I am an introvert and I hate socialising with people. I rather stay at home relax and watch shows or play games. In my personal experience, my parents enjoy going out and talking to people, so they would always drag me along to go out with them. I hate going out with them as outside is too hot for me and I find talking to strangers awkward for me. Therefore I do not enjoy going outdoors as I am an introvert. However there are two sides to every coin. One small part of me feels that I enjoy going outside. As going outdoors is a change of scenery for me. Instead of being at home doing the same things, I can go out and sightsee. In my personal experience, I would go out for a walk whenever I feel stress or need a change of scenery. This makes me feel more at ease and not think about my problems. Therefore there is a small part of me that would enjoy going outdoors.

This struck me because Singapore provided recreational spaces catering to different interests and age groups.

2. The amount of therapeutic gardens in park we are about to have ,around Singapore .This struck me because of how the government plans to build 12 therapeutic garden in 5 years , as of 23 June 2025 , Singapore only have 18 therapeutic garden. To build 12 therapeutic garden in 5 years is challenging. Therefore, it struck me.

3. The extensive network of park connectors in progress. This struck me as the Ministry of National Development's plan to build 8 more parks and create 13 km of park connectors by 2030 is striking because it highlights a significant investment in green spaces and outdoor recreation infrastructure in Singapore. This shows the support given by the government to nature lovers

(b) Personally, I enjoy going outdoors because it provides a calm and quiet place for me to relax.

(a) The first thing that struck me from the article was the Xtreme SkatePark @ East Coast. Based on the article, it is the first skate park in Singapore built to international competition standards. Moreover, It has a mix of street obstacles, such as rails and stairs, for skateboarders, inline skaters and BMX bikers to hone their skills on. This struck me because it makes it suitable for a wide range of skating experiences with different people around us.

(b)The second thing that struck me was the ittle India Heritage Trail. It is a 4km self-guided walk with three themed routes includes numerous heritage landmarks.

This struck me because I could explore the heritage on my own by simply walking around with a map given to me. This would result it making the experience a very interesting and meaningful one.

(c) The last thing that also struck me was the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. It is home to one of the largest patches of primary rain-forest left in Singapore and there are three routes of different difficulty to pick to reach the summit of the hill from different distances. This struck me because it offers more than just a hiking experience and allows me to connect with nature. As a result, this allows me to spend more time in nature.

I personally enjoy going outdoors as it helps me to relieve my stress. I say this because when studying or finishing up my outstanding homework given to me, I would tend to feel more stressed due to the limited amount of time left to complete them due to my busy schedule. Consequently, this would lead to increasing my stress and anxiety levels, which might affect my mental health. By going out, this would be able to clear my mind from studies, make me feel more relaxed and improve my overall mood. For example, during the weekends, I would cycle with my parents at the East Coast Park. Through this, it makes me feel more calm and relaxed. As a result, this makes me feel more at peace just by walking around nature or even just by spending time with my family or friends outdoors. Therefore, this is why I personally enjoy going outdoors.

The first thing that struck me was Briyani by Hamidah Bi at circuit road hawker centre, where there are only 2 items on the menu, chicken and mutton Briyani. This is striking to me because the hawker stall chose to only include 2 items on the menu, instead of a variety of different food selections, which shows how specialised they are in making Briyani as their star dish, giving them the confidence to rely on the sales garnered from just 2 dishes.

The second thing that I found striking was Xtreme SkatePark @ East Coast being the first skate park in Singapore built to international competition standards. This struck me as it is designed to accommodate skateboarders, inline skaters, and even BMX riders. The customised design is specifically configurated to ensure all groups of riders can attempt a variety of obstacles like street obstacles, including rails and stairs. I find this to be a very smart and efficient way of using Singapore's limited available land space to design an area for recreational activity, which is both accessible to the general public for free and also convenient in terms of being built inside East Coast park.

The third thing that I find striking is the abundance of animals and green spaces at multiple nature parks and reserves all around Singapore. There are elusive colugo gliding through the trees and a variety of different species of birds at bukit timah hill. Additionally. There are also spaces like the wellness garden in east coast park, which offer a quiet serene environment for park-goers to relax and admire the natural environment. It is about the size of 1 and a half football fields and has something for everyone, be it young or old. There is also a therapeutic garden, play garden, nature fitness area and a peaceful pond trail. Moreover there is also an elevated deck where you can soak in panoramic views of the pond, sea, and garden.

I personally enjoy going outdoors, as I like to appreciate the environment around me by exploring my surroundings. I personally feel that going for a walk outdoors to breathe some fresh air is way more wise decision as compared to staying indoors and being idle on my phone all day. Taking a stroll in nature is one quick and efficient way of allowing one to put their minds at rest, and they can even make use of this time to reflect on their day, or admire the scenery of the greenery. Moreover, I fervently believe that being outdoors allows for an individual to escape from the hardships in their lives, and instead turn to appreciating the natural environment as a way of relieving stress.

1.) The first thing that struck out to me from the article is the Xtreme SkatePark @ East Coast. This truck to me as i did not expect Singapore to have the space to build a skate park that is suitable for international competitions. Additionally, skateboarders are also able to come to this park as there are facilities built for them like rails and stairs. This park can bring together the skateboarder community, inline skater community and BMX biker community into one common area. Allowing for them to understand the differences in their hobbies. The second thing that struck out to me is the Central Urban loop. This struck to me as it is a 36km loop that links several neigbourhoods and parks. This loop brings people to different places like the iconic sunrise birdge at punggol. Furthermore, people cycling along the Pelton Canal park connector can make a pit stop at Circuit Road Hawker Centre for some cheap and good food. This can bring people of different backgrounds and stories together, making Singapore a more united country. The third thing that struck out to me from the article is the Bukit Timah Nature reserve. This nature reserve alllows nature lovers to explore one of the few primary rain forest left in Singapore There is so many things to do at the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve but for me personally, I would head over to a heritage tree (Kayu pontianak tree) and learn more about its history.

2.) I personally enjoy going outdoors as i am a person who loves the nature and walking around, exploring Singapore. Based on my personal experience, i use going outdoors as a way to escape from all the stress that i have from school. As Singapore is a academically competitive society, it is hard to keep up with the standards. By going out, i can de-stress and gather my thoughts together. Furthermore, during this time, i am able to appreciate the greenery in Singapore which only makes me more grateful for everything that i have. This is also good for our health as students nowadays stay at home and use their mobile devices which can harm their eyes as screens emit blue light. Additionally, by going out, it allows for people to be more calm and gives them time to think about how they have been.

It brings people together and shows a different side of Singapore. It struck to me because i would not expect much people to enjoy going on such long bike journeys.Lastly it would be the Little India 4km trial as I find that it is a good way for more Singaporeans to learn about others culture and living throughout this whole experience.

2) I personally do not like going outdoors because of how hot the weather is and how many mosquitoes there are in singapore.

a) The first thing that stood out to me from the article is the Xtreme SkatePark @ East Coast. This caught my attention because I didn’t expect Singapore to have enough space to construct a skate park that meets the standards for international competitions. What impressed me further is that skateboarders can make full use of this park, as it includes specific facilities such as rails and stairs designed just for them. The second thing that struck me is the 36km Central Urban Loop. This loop connects various neighborhoods and parks, which makes it ideal for someone like me who enjoys cycling. It would be convenient to take breaks at the parks along the route whenever I need to rest. I also came across information about the Sunrise Bridge in Punggol, which is known for its Instagram-worthy views. As someone who enjoys posting on social media, this would be the perfect place for me to capture scenic shots to share with my followers. Lastly, what really stood out to me is the 4km trail in Little India. I think it offers a meaningful and effective way for Singaporeans to gain deeper insight into different cultures and lifestyles, all while enjoying a unique experience

b) I personally enjoy spending time outdoors because it allows me to unwind and clear my mind from everything going on around me. Being outside offers a sense of serenity and peace that I truly appreciate, especially when I can listen to music, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. Additionally, I love going outdoors with my friends and family. Their presence adds an extra layer of entertainment, particularly during the holidays when staying at home can sometimes feel dull or boring. For these reasons, I genuinely love going outdoors, as it gives me the chance to enjoy both peace and excitement throughout the experience.

I had originally only thought that satay had to be meat only.

personally I enjoy going outdoors due to the activities we can do there. in my personal experience, I like to go cycling at west coast park with my friends . this also helps me to relax and rejuvenate especially during this exam period. Moreover, going outdoors means that I can clock in my exercise time . thus I enjouly going outdoors. however I do acknowledge the fact that people may not enjoy going outdoors. they may feel this way because they have more productive things to do. this is escpically since sg is a academically competitive society and we chase paper qualifications. furthermore, some people may think that going outdoors is a distraction and may drift them away from their tasks. to amerliate this , we should have a good balance of going outdoors and not. from the perspective of my community, they tend to host brisk walk events which my family and I attend semi weekly .

1) The Xtreme Skatepark @East Coast struck me as it is the first Skatepark in Singapore built to international competition standards.

2)NParks saying that it aims to have 30 therapeutic gardens in parks around Singapore by 2030. This struck me as it seems like the government is starting to see the importance of mental health. This makes sense especially since sg is an academically competitive society

3)Embark on a cultural holiday at home struck me as we get a deep dive in South Asia through the Little India Heritage Trail. The different trails on the dynamic map impressed me as it shows how much the government is doing for people to know more about the culture

4) I personally enjoy going outdoors as it helps me to clear my mind from the stress i face from the busy school days. This is especially important since sg is an academically competitive society. Additionally, This can help boost my mental and physical health as going outdoors is also a form of exercise. Overall, going outdoors can help me feel more calm and refreshed which would increase the productivity when doing work
