For example, the Prohibition caused the Mob to form and the banning of drugs caused the Cartel to form. The Mob was lead by Al Capone and the Cartel was ran by Don Pablo Escobar. In the article titled Prohibition: A Parallel to Modern War On Drugs, it is stated, "It was the prohibition of alcohol that made it so valuable to criminals". People always want what they cannot have and this stands true for drugs and alcohol. Banning alcohol made it that much more valuable to have and sell. The Mob took advantage of this and sold alcohol to those that were previously law abiding citizens. The same goes for marijuana and drugs in general. The Cartel makes millions of dollars a year off of marijuana alone. Back when bootlegging was at its hight people saw them as scum but still bought from them anyway and they made so much money.
