Aim and Purpose:

To strengthen the development of food literacy  through school meal activities for student teachers and their teachers with a view to promoting food education, health and learning among children and young people in Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Greenland and Denmark.

Objective:

1. To strengthen students' development of food literacy in a dual didactic perspective in the subject Home Economics, which is also aimed at school students' development of food education through participation in school meal schemes.

2. To strengthen a healthy and sustainable food culture in the Nordic region through food and meal pedagogical activities for students, teachers and pupils

3. To share existing knowledge and develop new activities among participating students and teachers from the Nordic countries.

Activities in the project:

WP 1: A physical seminar will be held in each partner country for teachers and students

WP2: Online webinars with knowledge sharing, (studycircle)

           as well as co-creation of educational materials for a Nordic food and meal pedagogy

Possible supplementary project (Nordplus school)

A track will be established for one school from each country with the aim of strengthening intercultural understanding, Nordic food culture and food education among the participants.

Exchange activities will be carried out for 1 class from each country (secondary). Follow-up research will be carried out by LEARNFOOD 3 researchers. This may be coordinated with WP1 in Nordplus Higher Education.

Teacher Education has the opportunity to open a dialogue between researchers and T Ed lecturers and students, so that students are able to apply this knowledge in their students teaching and in their future professions.

Dorte: In Denmark there is well-functioning program in pre-school or Kindergarten. We had hoped that this could be continued into the new school food program.

How can teachers become more positive or respectful towards the importance of schoolfood ?

Objective:

1) Dual = Home economics and school meal? Integration or not? National differences. Sweden - only lunch.

2) School food culture is enough

3) More focus on research. Develop. Research based education (best practice, critical perspectives) in Nordplus Higher education. Conference?

Activities:

WP1: teachers in higher education, Prioritize Iceland and Greenland

WP2: Webinars from other countries. Testing best practice and do research?

Supplementary: more work, time consuming
