Our group does agree with Kingsbury's claim regarding the responsibility of lawmakers and political leaders to make a change for service workers. However, leaders seem to not care about the issues since, "Political will in Washington to raise minimum wage has been stalled, and labor enforcement, at both the federal and state levels, has been ineffectual." (pg. 73) The responsibility should fall on the shoulders of the political group because they have the power to create laws to raise job paying wages. The community can try different ways to reach out to lawmaker or political influencers to push the process of positive change for the service industry.

Our group agrees because money makes a big impact on our lives. And in the text the author says that “servers who make minimum wage must rely on good tippers”

I agree with this claim. The evidence for this is on pg 74. The text says 'Being a more conscientious consumer will pay off in unexpected ways.' This shows that customers have a better say in dining and working conditions than the workers themselves. The people behind the workers who worry about customers eating their would worry more for the customers opinion rather than the worker who works overtime just to make ends meet. If the customer were to help the workers out with working in humane conditions, this will help the workers alot.

Yes, we agree because we feel that people should be more considerate towards the workers and servers. In the text on page 73, the chipotle owner increases his workers pay by 1 dollar and said it wasn’t a big deal but to the workers it made a difference. Therefor most company’s do have extra money to give to the workers/servers so they can increase their pay.

Our group agrees with this claim. In paragraph 8 when they talked about raising the minimum wage he said that I would have no effect but it could be the difference between feeding your family and having a roof over your head to bring evicted and your family not being able to eat. Money makes a big impact in everyone’s life.

We agree because in paragraph 8 it says that the chipotles chief financial officer said “in other words, an extra buck an hour isn’t a major threat to chipotles bottom line…” meaning they have money to spend. It won’t affect the business if they pay servers a higher amount. The severs need to be paid more so the money will be beneficial to them and it won’t affect the company.

We agree, because they don’t until someone complains and they do something. We find evidence of this in paragraph 8. “Yet, in discussing proposals for a $10 minimum wage , Chipotle’s chief financial officer, Jack Hartung, shrugged it off. ‘A move to $10 would have an effect , but not too significant.”

On page 73, paragraph 8, we use evidence from our claim that “—mean the difference between making rent and even putting enough food on the table.”
