There would not have been anything called the fertile crescent, and the Sumerian's would not have a good food supply, due to the lack of rivers/fertile soil. Also, they may have not been in the main trade route, so getting wood or other necessary supplies would have been very hard.

Core Question 3:The Sumerians invented many things. The wheel, irrigation, and cuneiform are all very important creations. The wheel is what we use today for so many things! Cars, bikes, airplanes and more vehicles use

Take it to writing:

Our life today would be very different if Sumerians didn't exist. We may have not even been writing today if it wasn't for Sumerians! Our crops could die without irrigation, then there would be no healthy fruit and vegetables, then we'd all have to eat fish and the world would end! Anyway, another important invention was the wheel. Without the wheel, we wouldn't be able to get around half as fast as we do today! Without cuneiform, our lives would have no texting, emails, letters, or essays! Thank Sumerians!

wheels. Back then, they used the wheel for long distance trading. Irrigation is important because crops need water to grow, so irrigation was essential to Sumerians. Irrigation is moving water through human systems. In my opinion, cuneiform is most important. Cuneiform is writing, and without writing, there would be no books!
Closing Question: If Sumer wasn't placed between the Tigris and Euphrates River, it may have not survived for long. The rivers were essential for farming and trade. Without the floods, no silt would deposit onto Sumer, meaning crops wouldn't flourish as they did. Without crops, trade would die slowly, and Sumer would too.

The Sumerian's passed on from generation to generation that you could plant seeds or fruit/veggies and they would grow into more food. They also created beautiful artwork and pottery to trade, and we use arts and crafts to decorate our houses today too. But most importantly, they had rulers and religions that they passed on to us. They believed in one or more gods and had multiple religions. Now, in 2018, we have religions and gods we look up to, and we have a president. We also have armies, and, in the past, we have had World Wars. That is why is Sumerian's culture and religion had been different, we would not have been where we are today.

The Sumerians of Mesopotamia affected the modern world in many ways. First of all, the Sumerians created the wheel, that changed the modern world for the better. It made moving around easy and affordable. Another example is writing, it created the concept of writing down things that happen so later generations can know about them too. All in all, the inventions of the Sumerians definitely changed the worlds for the better.

The Sumerians were quite reliant on their environment greatly, even when the flooding of the rivers caused some problems the Sumerians knew what to do. They built dams and leeves to protect their crops from the floods and it dropped fertile soil, called silt, which the Sumerians used to fertilize the crops they grew to sell to other people. If they had lived in a drier environment, they may not have survived without the rivers. On the other hand, if they had lived in a wetter environment, with more moisture, their crops may have been over watered and died. This would have made the probability of developing a complex civilization very low.

Without these things our lives would be very different. For example, without written language, history would be gone for we would not keep records of things without written language. The wheel was the basis for modern transportation, without it, we would not have cars or buses. This would change the world as we know it. We might not even have people in America, due to the fact that settlers came to the Americas on wagons, which use wheels.
