Welcome to the Learning Design and ESD BOOTCAMP 2023.

I am Yuma Inzolia, Head of Training and Development at the UNESCO International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (UNESCO IESALC). 

I have more than 20 years of experience in the design and implementation of high impact projects based on social innovation with education as a lever for change. 
 
I am passionate about the design of innovative digital solutions aimed at the transmission of knowledge with a focus on social and collaborative learning, with special focus on the creation of communities for the development of competencies of the HEI ecosystem and the digital transformation of universities.

I consider myself fortunate to have the pleasure of supporting universities in the region in the design of methodological and conceptual frameworks to implement a model of change that is sustainable and scalable over time.

As an educator, I have always been interested in making learning more sustainable and environmentally friendly. This is why I am excited to participate in the Learning Design and Education for Sustainable Development Bootcamp. I aim to gain a deeper understanding of sustainability concepts and practices that I can integrate into my teaching methodology, curriculum, and classroom practices. In addition, I hope to learn from experts in the field, connect with like-minded educators, and collaborate on innovative ideas to promote sustainability in education. As an individual, I am passionate about positively impacting the environment and the community, and education has a crucial role in achieving this goal.

I look forward to this journey and am excited to contribute to the movement towards a more sustainable future.

I’m a geographer by academic background and was a lecturer for over 20 years before moving into an Educational Developer role at the University of Birmingham and then on to Derby. Because of my disciplinary background, sustainability has always been a key element of my work. In time, I put sustainability at the heart of the Single Honours Geography programme that I used to lead. 

I’m fortunate now to be in a strategic role which affords me some influence over developments University-wide. I’ve lobbied for ESD to be one of our curriculum design principles, working closely with the Union of Students. I lead the University’s ESD Network and work with colleagues who are focused on embedding or researching ESD. This is all very challenging and exciting work, in roughly equal measure! 

I’m really pleased that the Derby team has been accepted to be part of the Bootcamp. I see it as a great CPD opportunity and a chance to strengthen and consolidate my knowledge and understanding, partly through connecting with colleagues from the other participating universities. Most of all, I’m keen to take my learning and use it as part of Derby’s ongoing project to embed ESD into the student learning experience. 

I'm Tania Dias Fonseca; I'm Portuguese but have been working in London since 2016.
At Kingston University, I'm the Strategic Academic Lead for Sustainability, aiming to embed sustainability into the curriculum, research and knowledge exchange. So, I'm very excited about the BootCamp  : )
Before coming to Kingston, I worked in Environmental Education connected with active citizenship and democratic education for 12 years. 
My interests are connected to climate justice, social inequality and decarbonizing societies equitably. Consider how there are "free riders" and "forced riders" regarding CO2 emissions and climate exchange impacts.

Soy Tania Dias Fonseca; Soy portugués pero trabajo en Londres desde 2016.
En la Universidad de Kingston, soy el Líder Académico Estratégico para la Sostenibilidad, con el objetivo de incorporar la sostenibilidad en el plan de estudios, la investigación y el intercambio de conocimientos. Entonces, estoy muy entusiasmada con el BootCamp:)
Antes de venir a Kingston, trabajé en Educación Ambiental relacionada con la ciudadanía activa y la educación democrática durante 12 años.
Mis intereses están conectados con la justicia climática, la desigualdad social y la descarbonización de las sociedades de manera equitativa. Considere cómo hay "viajeros gratuitos" y "viajeros forzados" con respecto a las emisiones de CO2 y los impactos del cambio climático.

I’m Saima Akhtar from the University of Derby.  I’m a learning designer and I work with both academic and professional services staff from across the institution to design programmes and modules to be delivered online.  

In my role as a learning designer, I ask academic authors which of the 17 sustainable development goals resonate most with their modules in hope that they will integrate them in their high level plan when designing online modules.  However, I consider myself a novice in this space and therefore I am excited to be part of this bootcamp to learn about the different tools and practices I can use in supporting academic colleagues to embed sustainability into the curriculum. I am equally excited to experience learning design as a learner on this bootcamp!

Saludos, soy María Elena Sandoval, docente-investigadora del Área de Salud de la Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar. En la actualidad estoy concentrada en los temas relacionados con el desarrollo y bienestar integrales de adolescentes y jóvenes.  Me motiva mucho todo lo relacionado con metodologías transformativas en la educación.

Soy Alejandra Gaviria Pérez, Ingeniera Industrial y estudiante de la Maestría en Administración del Desarrollo Humano y Organizacional. Trabajo en los procesos de renovación curricular, registro calificado y acreditación de alta calidad de programas de pregrado y posgrado, todo esto para fortalecer la pertinencia, integralidad y calidad de los programas formativos.

La formación de profesionales comprometidos con la transformación de sociedad, requiere cambios académicos y curriculares, que les brinden las herramientas para abordar las problemáticas del mundo de hoy y del futuro. A través de los conocimientos recibidos en el Bootcamp espero fortalecer los procesos de modernización curricular articulados con la propuesta de educación para el desarrollo sostenible.

I’m Siti Fatahiyah Mahamood. Can call me Siti. I’m from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam, Malaysia. I teach Ethics & Civilization, Medical Ethics and I’m doing some research on humanoids and ethics for Artificial Intelligence.
