UDL and OER Used Together

OER and UDL can be used in the classroom together. OER can provide different ways to teach and learn for students with different needs and abilities.

For example, OpenStax is an OER that has free, downloadable textbooks. They can be in PDF format, physical format, or other technological formats the student chooses depending on individual needs.

OERs can also provide different types of media to teachers for instruction. For example, UDL considers different types of media to teach. A teacher could use PBS kids to show an episode from a show about animals during a food chain lesson. Or a teacher can use a project or experiment from NASA Space Place in a lesson about the Milky Way.
