It is definitely inspiring to know that AI can help us engage all students when a teacher is unable to do in a big class of 40. The pedagogical considerations are also quite explicit and helpful in designing AI related lessons. I also think that it is important to integrate AI infused lessons with discussions in class to help the students round up and make connections that will stay with them.

However, I've tried LEA in my lesson, it's quite hard to come up with the right prompts to help guide the chatbot to interact with the students in a way that does not allow them to deviate from the topic learnt and yet not inhibit their curiousity too much. FA Math also sound good but as someone who is not so good at the technical parts of ICT, it is really challenging. I wish there are more support in learning how to use these resources.

The Mathematics lesson examples shared today affirmed my belief that AI can add genuine value to pupils’ learning when it is used purposefully. AI can generate age-appropriate visuals, targeted feedback, making abstract mathematical concepts easier for young learners to understand. It can also provide additional scaffolding for pupils who need more support. However, the examples also challenged my assumption that an AI tools automatically are suitable for learning. Teachers must still check the accuracy, language, cognitive demand and relevance of the content to ensure that it is aligned with the pupils’ age, readiness and learning outcomes. Ultimately, AI is most valuable when it supports sound teaching practices rather than being used simply for novelty or engagement.

This can reduce their opportunity to struggle, make mistakes and develop their own mathematical reasoning.

Therefore, I think AI is most useful when it helps students think more deeply, rather than simply gives them the answer. For example, AI can ask questions, give hints, show different methods and help students check and explain their thinking.

The lesson examples have shown how AI can be incorporated in our daily lessons. It is very useful when it can assist to guide most of our students. As in the classroom, we are only able to guide a few students at a time. However for some students who are not as engaged or independent in their learning, SLS or FA Math may not be the most efficient tool. I am also trying to think of other ways to motivate in their learning.

It's a helpful reminder that pedagogy should lead, not the technology — a principle I want to hold onto.

What struck me most were the five questions to ask before introducing an AI tool. They get at what I genuinely care about: whether it supports or replaces my students' thinking, whether it builds their agency, and whether it truly makes my teaching more meaningful, not just more automated. Thanks for systematically showing how it is being done.

As a team, I think we are still reviewing the possibilities of using AI for math, and also exploring new paths to see how it can be applied in mathematics. I would tell the students that AI is supposed to help, not replace their work and thinking.

AI allows customisation to individual student's learning needs and let him/her take charge of their learning process. As for FA, it may work for MP and HP pupils and LP pupils will need more support as they might not understand the solutions provided. It is important for students to reflect after they have interacted with AI e.g. SaLis on what the benefits and challenges they face after using it.

While there are still many considerations when incorporating AI tool in a lesson, the use of AI definitely allows a more personalized learning experience for the students, it also allows the teacher to have a timelier gauge of the understanding of the students allowing teachers to rectify any misunderstanding/ misconceptions quickly.

For basic numeracy, factual fluency and calculation skills, students still need opportunities to practise independently and develop confidence without relying on AI.

These platforms have the potential to support teaching, assessment, and student learning. However, educators will need to spend time evaluating and adapting the resources to suit their lesson objectives and students' needs. I also recognize the importance of ensuring that students first gain a solid understanding of concepts through teacher-led instruction and guided learning activities. AI tools should complement, rather than replace, the foundational learning process, helping students strengthen their understanding and achieve greater mastery of the topic.
