The symbolism of owning a farm in the book Of Mice and Men is that it represents the idea of the american dream at the time. The american dream at the time of when the book Of Mice and Men was written the american dream was to make enough money, buy a piece of land, and "live off the fatta the lan." Living off your own piece of land meant the people that got it never had to work for anyone and didn't have to be told what to do.

The Bunkhouse

The bunkhouse in Of Mice and Men symbolizes the the way people are stuck in a certain position. The workers that live in the bunkhouse all have dreams but they know that they are never destined to do anything else but be a farm hand. The bunkhouse represents a mouse trap. The cheese is the money the job pays but it's never enough to leave and get that piece of land so they become stuck and trapped in and endless cycle of working.
