Shapes of the land

As I look at these dips in the land, I wonder who has been here before me and what have they been used for. Within my own self I almost feel an urge to run and dance between the raises like a child, I wonder if curves in the land that we see everywhere is the earths way of dancing. Also being in this experience I began to think of how the traditional owners of the land may have interpreted these dips in the land in Dreamtime stories, could it have been made by a snake moving through the land or where these dips used as shelters. It amazes me that this place nestled within the city has so many dramatical aspects. This aspect of this experience made me draw more on place-thought and thinking of the environment in different ways (Watts, 2013). This experience and game highlighted more interconnected thought with the land that I was on and that this land has a sense of agency.

The Leaves Are Singing

As I sat in the moment and let the environment interpret itself, one of the first things that stood out for me was the noise the leaves were making as the wind blew through them, it was as if they were singing. The constant rustle and banging of the leaves together never let the air be quiet not even for a minute, their sounds filled the entire park with sound. In a way this constant white noise felt calming, and like the paralaxis game made me investigate smaller objects of our large environment to see from a different perspective. I began to think of what other objects and aspects of music made similar sounds, such a paper bags and different rhythms of songs that I knew. Within music we use instruments to make different sounds or we can even made music from clapping our hands, the leaves rustling is nature's way of making music.

The Land Is Speaking

In the moments I was in this environment, and I was focusing on how it was speaking to me with language and what words were coming to my mind whilst I was in this environment. The simple sounds of nature around me required me to listen and be still, I found these moments reminded me of aspects of the Didirri text and video where we were required to deeply listen to the sounds and other aspects of the piece. I found that was also doing this deep listening whilst in the park environment.
