He was a very important figure in the Communist Party and in developing the Chinese economy. In April 1971 China invited to United States table tennis team to play against them. This court case involved minors in custody. Michael Alvarado help steal a truck in later the owner was killed. Alvarado was convicted of second-degree murder for his role in the crime. On March 16, 1968 American soldiers who were searching for enemy troops started a massacre. The Vietnam army would disguise themselves as civilians and attack soldiers, that is what the US army thought was going on in the village of My Lai. The US troops started to open fire and killed between 4 to 500 people. Some of the US troops tried to stop the attack and some didn't participate. In 1971 court  convicted LT. The court was led by chief justice Earl Warren. Before becoming the Chief Justice, Warren was governor of California.  On January 21 1968 (also known as the Vietnam New Year) communist struck. They started by attacking North Vietnam but then soon expanded to the US and the AVRN.  President Kennedy created the peace corps in 1961. He send American volunteers around the world to help developing countries. They helped to give technical, educational, and health services.  President Johnson had a vision for America and he called it the "Great Society". The first half of 1965 congress added the Medical Care for Thebes's age program, better known as Medicare. Medicare was used to provide basic hospital insurance for people in the social security system.  Lynda Van Devanter spent a year in the Vietnam war as a volunteer nurse. She wrote a book about her experience and in it she talked about all of the trauma she faced when returning. For example she claims all of her relationships were unfulfilling, and her work was spotty, she went to therapy but never told her therapist he was involved in the war because she buried it so deep. She also wrote about how surgeons would work drunk or high on marijuana, and she talked about how difficult it was to be back. Lynda also wrote about women's struggles with post traumatic stress and problems chemicals like agent orange, which later killed her. When Robert was attorney general he was best known for his civil rights advocacy, and his fight against organized crime and the mafia.  During the Vietnam war America became divided into two categories, the doves and the hawks. The hawks were the moreover conservative group, who supported Johnson's war policy. They also believed in communism being contained and the domino theory. They believe the war was a crucial front in the Cold War. The doves however were a diverse group of liberal, student radicals, and pacifist. They questioned the war not only on strategic grounds but also on ,oral grounds.  In 1959 a armed revolt overthrew the Cuban dictator Fulgenico Batista, because of this Fidel Castro came to power. After President Kennedy,S inauguration in February of 1961 he started to plan the invasion. The fist was planned to happen on April 15 but the bombers missed many of their targets and left Cubans planes intact, so Kennedy cancelled the second attack. Two days later on April 17th Brigade 2506 landed along the Bay of Pigs and was met with heavy fire. Over the next 24 hours Castro oreded 20,000 troops to advance to the beach, many Us troops were captured or killed by Castro. The Brigade remained in captive for 20 months while the US made a deal with Castro.  The equal pay act required equal pay for equal work, and within a year it prohibited discrimination on the basis of race, sex, color, religion, and national origin.
