However, the ability to commute and travel virtually anywhere has not always been widespread. One of the results of this is our culture.
The Impact of Globalization and Other Forces Like Modernization on Cultural Heritage

Due to the rise of social networking networks, faster modes of transportation including aviation, and the like, humans are now equipped with methods for sharing intellect and expertise faster than ever. All of this, being known as globalization. Aside from the more obvious appreciation segment of the force of globalization, there is one more factor yet to be considered. The power of change and improvement. Although modern human beings have existed for hundreds of thousands of years, the concept of human rights has not, being only a comprehendible concept a few hundred years BC.

Globalization aids humans in pinpointing what makes our quality of life effective after analyzing various cultures. As mentioned previously, however, does not mean we should copy or adopt completely the culture. Instead, it makes us realize some facts that we are used to doing might hinder us from seeing the condition of people in our society. Thus, we can make our cultural practices more soft or easy to integrate in our daily lives. It is important to keep in mind that people's principles and opinions can change over time. All in all, we will tend to not be afraid to share our cultural heritage because it sounds acceptable to other people.

Lastly, globalization and modernization promotes cultural tolerance. It is easy for people to make assumptions if they know nothing about a particular matter. Simply, to combat this, we have to get rid of prejudices and the like, and that way we will be more positive as we see the beauty of the different cultures in the world. Globalization has been moderately to almost greatly important in the rise of cultural heritage. But these are not the only way to make cultural heritage thrive.

Efforts Made in Preserving and Maintaining Cultural Heritage and Their Application to The Personal or Local Context

There are many efforts being done in order to preserve various cultural heritages, such as:

1. Education and cultural immersion e.g. Chinese and Filipino language education as well as XCE, in Xavier School. This aids in communicating with my fellow countrymen and my relatives.

2. Grassroots movement e.g. "Save Our Heritage" campaign in a small town nestled in the mountains. Due to its previous history of being colonized and occupied for centuries, the Philippines has also faced challenges because of colonial mentality. There has to be a way to promote local products.

3. Preservation of culturally-important landmarks as well as tourism e.g. via UNESCO, and the documentation of culture in digital, oral, or another form especially in the emergence of technology. In an ever-changing world, it is easy to forget about our cultural heritage.

As a Xavierian, I can contribute to promoting the preservation of cultural heritage by sharing my culture by taking advantage of the internet. Secondly, by participating actively in culturally-relevant programs whether onsite, online, international, or local. The potential solutions have always been there, just waiting to be employed. Just like how globalization can be a catalyst for positivity in cultural heritage, our will and determination can also be a catalyst for the promotion of the preservation of cultural heritage.

The Importance of Cultural Heritage in Identity Formation and Development

The world is not entirely the same throughout. It is known that there are countries that experience various seasons, species that only exist in certain geographical regions, and natural landforms that take our breath away. And yet, even if we are left with no other choice but to relinquish a huge amount of our savings, we go to the aforementioned types of places. But why?

The same can be said about the human population. We adapt to our resources and climate which results into different ways of living. We are intrigued and surprised when see something different from our own "status quo." This is all because of diversity. Diversity leads to an identity that is unique and appreciation. If everyone adopted the same set of cultural behavior and traditions that they think is interesting for them, then that very interesting cultural heritage becomes the norm and there wouldn't be anything to discuss about.

The next point is that cultural heritage encourages us to have a respectful identity. Consider luxury brands, they are expensive because they are hard to make. Although people have various reasons for buying these types of products, one notable reason is because we value their craftsmanship and legacy. This also applies to our cultural heritage. How, from one point, they worked themselves up to receive success in its finest form. Our ancestors first formed our cultural heritage. They did not have the same technological advances we may take for granted today, notably the World Wide Web.

This brings us to the last point: an identity with a solid and clear direction. Similar to how various religions have their own beliefs and ideas that are passed down, cultural heritage also provides various values for both inter- and intrapersonal relationships. Indeed, there are many different cultures but this does not mean there are definite right and wrong approaches. But if we do not have cultural heritage, then it is easy for us to get lost in a world where different cultures and practices merged due to globalization.
