Point 1: Open Diplomacy

This point stated that all diplomacy meetings should be open and public and that peace will ensue through public diplomacy and the end of secret meetings between nations. This made a huge impact on the post-war world because this helps protect other nations who could be attacked by a secret alliance between its rival nations.

Point 2: Freedom of the Seas

This point stated that all seas aside from territorial waters were to be considered free and any nation can navigate across them freely. This point is very important because now in our post-World War I world we are able to prepare to defend our nation effectively and fight other nations without the fight being on the soil of a certain nation. This is also very important because it allows all nations to freely traverse and uphold international peace by eliminating territorial disputes.

Point 3: Removal of Economic Barriers

This point was very important because it allowed the release of all Economic Barriers in the world. It was very important post-war too because it created an equal trade for all nations to become equally strong economically. This point creates peace throughout the world by ending secret economic alliances and the unjust use of sanctions.

This point I believe made a very big impact post-war due to the peace that would follow this point. People in all nations would be much safer if all of the armaments were reduced. This stopped the chance of a military superpower in any nation. This point in my opinion is one of the most important.

This point stated that all land claims and territorial claims shall be equally diversified among nations and no one nation should become the sole recipient of colonial or territorial areas. This point was very important post-war because it allowed all nations to be equal and for no one nation to become too large, even the winning nations of the war.

This point stated that the Russians would be allowed to determine their own form of government as long as it was their view of the freest for the people and that all German troops were to evacuate Russian lands. This point for me is not too important because it just made Russia stronger and larger which would prove to be a problem in the coming decades.

This point forced all German troops out of Belgium and Belgium was to become an independent country. This point was important to the end of World War I because the German had occupied Belgium during the war and now this point led Belgium to be free from German Oppression and this also limited the German land and power.

The eighth point regarded France. This point was very important post-war with our friendship with France. This point stated that all German Troops were to leave France and all land including Alsace-Lorraine which has been a land dispute 50 years prior to the point with Prussia. This impacted the US by increasing friendship with the French and dissolving German Occupation.

This point proclaimed that the Italian Borderlines are to be set in stone and Italians are to live within those lines. This had a somewhat significance post-war because it reduced Italian power due to them originally being with the Triple Alliance. But this also had a minimal effect in my opinion due to the eventual rise of Benito Mussolini in the 30's and 40's.

Austria-Hungary was still an independent nation and was to be "accorded the freest opportunity of autonomous development." This means that they were to be given the right to an equal and just government. This had a very large impact post-war due to the Sykes-Picot Agreement between the British and French that split the Middle East up between the two. This was a secret agreement and went against the first point in the 14 points. This divided the Middle East and is one cause for Hatred of the United States and Western Europe.

This point stated that Serbia, Montenegro, and Romania should be evacuated of German and other axis powers and they should become independent countries. This Impacted the Post-War World greatly by reducing Axis grounds and by allowing independence among the Balkan nations. This also had a negative effect due to the Communist and Fascist

This gave not only Turkey but all lands occupied by Turkey the chance to become Independent and Autonomous. This stated that the Dardanelles would also be open for international trade to all nations. This point was very important post-war not only for the ability for new countries to obtain freedom but also economically for shipping transport in the Dardanelles. This also virtually ended the Ottoman Empire.

This point gave independent economic and governmental freedom to Poland. This point was important to the post-war world for the sake of Polish Freedom and US/Polish relations but also was ineffectual in the long-term due to the German Invasion of Poland in the late thirties.

This point was stated that a League of Nations was to be built to protect any country no matter how large or small. This was very important to the Post-War World and my personal favorite point. This was ironic because the country that created this League of Nations did not actually join it but it is my favorite because the ideals that Wilson shared of this "League" created the ideals for the creation of things like the UN and the EU that are very important in International Government and Economics today.

This was very important in giving all nations the right to a free country and the right to run it however they choose. Wilson was a very intelligent President and I believe that the Fourteen Points were very Important.
