In my current placement (leave substitute) I use data to influence almost every decision I make! In the Albany School District they give students the NWEA exam as a baseline. The scores determine EAI (Enrich Accelerate Intervene) groups to best meet students needs. Also 1xweekly I meet with vertical teammates to discuss the data and steps we can take to better prepare our students for the next grade, and bounce ideas off of one another for optimal student success.

I am a white, heterosexual female who was raised in an upper-middle-class home with both parents present. I had many opportunities growing up that many children do not have the privilege. I played competitive softball, and traveled distance to become recruited to play at the collegiate level. Now working in an inner city school district, I sometimes have to remind myself of the population I work with, and that they do not have a similar upbringing. So as an educator I take the responsibility to meet all of their needs; social, emotional, and academic needs. I find it important to discuss my experiences with the students to build the real-life to school connection.
