The painting was created in Ognissanti, Florence, during the years 1305-1310, and it was painted in Tempera and gold on wood panel. The picture reflects what the core of Byzantine art was about. Giotto used a linear perspective often but in this painting he made it known by making the Madonna and the Christ Child larger than all of the saints around her. Since I really admire Giotto's art, this is among my favorites. All of his work was characterized by a sense of realism, which is what made him unique from others.

The Egyptian Nebamun depicts hunting birds and you can see also see nebamun in a boat with his wife Hatshepsut and their daughter. . Nature and animals served as a very symbolic thing during this time period as it meant to be reborn and have a new outlook on life. My favorite part about this painting is the cat because of how incredibly detailed it is. I love how he catched it in action catching a bird while also admiring the beauty surrounding it with the birds, flowers, and butterflies.

This mosaic was created in San Vitale in 544-545 CE. initially analyzing this mosiac, I see that Roman Emperor Justinian is the only person dressed in purple. He is also wearing a golden halo and is standing next to his court officials. I was drawn to this piece because I actually remember learning that purple was such an impressive color during this era and meant royalty. If anyone other than an official or Emporer was seen wearing purple, they would be punished and shunned. I also really appreciate the colors used throughout giving such a high-quality feel.

A dome was built on top of the Pantheon during the Roman Empire. Due to the architectural effort put into it, it was the one I remembered the most compared to the other domes. From the image, you can kind of see the arching used throughout the pantheon, along with the consitent size of squares around the ceiling. This is a completely mesmerizing structure and I would love to see it in person one day. I was so attracted to the placement of light in this church because many felt that natural light was incompatible with religious beliefs.
