A residential school is a place where they take children and "mold" them into something else. They do that to children and not adults because adults are not as easy to "mold". Its a boarding school. The purpose of the residential schools was to eliminate all aspects of Aboriginal culture. The two primary objectives were to remove and isolate children from the influence of their homes, families, traditions and cultures. Students had there hair cut short, wore uniforms and they had to be at there class at a certain time. If they were late well abuse played a big part in the situation.

There were about 130 residential schools in every territory and province. Except Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick. They had no schools there because the government thought that the kids knew enough about the culture. The total amount of children who went to these schools were 150,000 first nation kids.
