Music (in my own words)

Music is one of those things that often gets taken for granted. We often lose sight of how much music influences our daily lives and has affected the world around us. (e.g. Buddy holly st in Lubbock, Graceland in Memphis, Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara, etc). With popular music on the Billboard top 100 changing constantly everyday we can sometimes lose track the importance of music as an entity, we seldom think about how terrible a world with music would be. Music has the power to bring people together, as well tear them apart. In the Revolutionary era of our country our national anthem, the star spangled banner, was not just something played in sporting events or parades but it was to commemorate for those who gave their lives so that we could have independence, those patriots who gave their lives so that the flag could stay standing.
Though the documentation of completed music only goes as far back as the like of Hildegard von bingen, we can safely assume with the most confidence that music has been around much longer than that, as we as people have discovered instruments that date back thousands of years. With the construction of the First Temple the sounds of the Shofar (A rams horn instrument) were heard. Music has always played an instrumental part in the lives of people, and becomes not only a staple of our lives but our culture as well.
