Remember the Titans is a American sports film based on a real life story. In the movie a new African American head coach is hired to coach football. The new head coach offers the old head coach a job to be the assistant coordinator coaching position. At first the old coach wouldn't take it. That is when the white players started to come up and telling him that they were going to boycott the team for him and risk their rides to college. That is when he decided to take the job and said that is it only for his players that he is doing it. At first the team is biased to their race but after the physical and mental practices and camps they start to become one. They make one of the greatest football teams to ever play for their school.

In this part of the movie, the themes of prejudice and racism are apparent. They talk about how the leader isn't leading the team because of his racist attitude and prejudice. Garry expects Julius and the other black players on the team to defend the white players on the field when in reality the white players refused to defend the black players when the roles are reversed. Julius fires a remark that "honesty ain't too high upon 'your people's' priority list," further showing that racism is happening on the field and is a part of the school culture.

Coach Herman Boone and coach Bill Yoast both had positive effects on the players. They taught the players that skin color doesn't define a person. They taught them that at times you have to make sacrifices to get ahead in life. They also taught them that you have to keep pushing for what you want in life no matter the adversity that you meet.

The Culture of T.C. Williams changed quickly. At the beginning of the school year the school was full of racial tensions. Students didn't interact with anyone outside of their race. Teachers favored the white students. With the new head football coach being a black man he came into the school and broke down the culture barriers. He created a team that was a family. By doing this he also help create a school that became a family without racial tensions. The lessons that he taught to the football team were recreated in their own life. With the football team becoming a family and breaking down racial barriers the rest of the school and community started to do the same. This caused the culture of the school to change from a school full of racist and unaccepting people into a welcoming environment for all.

In the movie the climate of the school and football team changes drastically. The school was just desegregated in the 1970s and many students and members of the white community are not happy about it. At the start of the movie people push back and try to find ways to make the new black students feel unwanted and unsafe at the school. A new head coach is hired and he is black. Many of the white football players refuse to play football for the new coach. By the end of the movie the football team has learned how to accept each other for who they are as a person.

In this part of the movie the theme is respect. The respect was shown by the players getting up early at three am to go run as one behind the coach. This shows respect to the coach because they aren't giving up when they run threw rugged terrain. The team also shows respect by listening to what he has to say when they get to Gettysburg.

In this part of the movie it shows Garry integrity for the team. He sees one of his white teammates not blocking for the so called "other people" and points it out to coach. He says he wants him off the team because he wants what is best for the team. This shows integrity by having to cut his best friend off the team because he not respect the black players and helping out the team. He is looking out for the team instead of looking out for himself.
