The superego is like a conscience, it is the moral part of your brain. The ego is the middle part where you decide superego or id. For example the angel (the superego) and the devil (id) standing on the shoulders telling the person (ego) what to do has to choose which one to listen to.

If a plan of action does not work, then it is thought through again until a solution is found. This is known as reality testing and enables the person to control their impulses and demonstrate self-control, via mastery of the ego.

This the only component of personality that is present from birth. This aspect of personality is entirely unconscious and includes instinctive and primitive behaviors. The ego functions in the conscious ,preconscious, and   unconscious mind. The ego is the component of personality that is responsible for dealing with reality. The superego holds the internalized moral standards and ideals that we acquire from our parents and society (our sense of right and wrong). The superego provides guidelines for making judgments. 
Freud's theory provides one conceptualization of how personality is structured and how the elements of personality function. In Freud's view, a balance in the dynamic interaction of the id, ego, and superego is necessary for a healthy personality.

Id, ego, superego are often referred to as structures and does not exist physically in the brain. New borns behavior is driven by the Id, which never grows up. Ego is responsibility is to acknowledge and it deals with reality. The superego is the moral compass of the personality, upholding a sense of right and wrong.

Ego is said to relate to reality. So through time it tries to satisfy those needs that the Id requires. Last but not least, we have superego. You know when family says "they don't know right from wrong", superego is built overtime. It is in fact, the ability to know right from wrong. So with superego, it all ties in with Id and Ego.
