Call to Adventure

My call to adventure was the sound of my alarm going off on the first day of school. I immediately hit the snooze button and went back to sleep. Then I finally found it in me to get up and start getting ready for a big day in a new school.

The sound of the alarm was the initial call to adventure, telling me it's time to start the day. I refused the call, like many heros do, by hitting snooze and sleeping some more. I knew that I had to go and ultimately accepted the call when I finally got out of bed to prepare for the big journey ahead.

Challenges

The challenges during my semester of high school were the tests and quizzes we took, in addition to the homework we were told to do. Each task we completed throughout the semester prepared us a little more for finals at coming at the end.

The tests, quizzes, and homework we did resemble the small challenges and battles the hero must accomplish before facing the final battle. These challenge make the hero stronger and prepare the hero for the final battle. Similar to how the tests prepare us for finals.

Abyss

The abyss in my journey during first semester was finals. I prepared for them with completing all the tasks I was given throughout the semester and hours of studying beforehand. I was ready to face finals and come out successful.

Finals represent the abyss because you spend your time in the unknown world preparing for them. It the biggest test of the semester which corresponds to the biggest, most important battle the hero faces on their adventure. You can either rise to the occasion or let it tear you down.

Crossing the Threshold

I began crossing the threshold on the car ride over to school on the first day. I continued crossing it when I stepped out of my brother's car when we got there. I then started making my way into the new school with him by my side trying to keep the nerves at bay. I felt anxious and didn't want to go in, but once I walked through the doors I knew there was no turning back.

The car ride to school illustrates the nerve-wracking events and feelings the hero experiences before completely crossing the threshold. I gathered up my strength and finally entered the unknown world, San Marcos High, which ultimately represents crossing the threshold.

Katniss Call to Adventure

This relates to Katniss Everdeen and her call to adventure. She heard her sister name get called at the reaping and had an immediate reaction. Although she never refused the call, it was evident that she had a long journey ahead of her.

Katniss Crossing the Threshold

Katniss began crossing the threshold on her way to the Capitol with Peeta. It was a nerve-wracking journey, but they both accepted whatever was coming their way. Each had the other my their side and entered a whole new world when they arrived at the Capitol.

Katniss Challenges

Katniss faced many challenges before the games. Some occurred in the training center where she really prepared herself for the games. She saw the strength of other districts. Another challenge for Katniss was making herself likable and appealing. In order to be a successful tribute you have to be well liked, which is hard for Katniss. She acquired more physical strength and became more likable which prepared her for the games.

Katniss Abyss

The abyss in Katniss's journey was when the games began. This was a matter of life and death and winning would bring pride to not only herself, but District 12 as well. She had worked physically and mentally to be as successful as possible in this battle. Although finals aren't a matter of life or death, they are extremely important and determine success in the future. The games are the biggest battle which connects to how finals are the biggest and most important test.
