Original (3rd person):

When Letty was no older than a mere babe in her momma's eyes, she and her older brother used to spend the summer in her granny's old cabin near the woods, in the boonies. He used to bring his girl-friend over too, a pretty young lady with jet-black hair and sharp brown eyes. Letty liked her, she thought she was nice. She would bring chocolates and all sorts of other treats whenever she visited their house. She stopped coming one summer, so did the summers after that. One particular midsummer's day, her brother headed out to the forest for a walk. He did so without telling granny, and Letty thinks he doesn't deserve the nice shoes he's wearing for going against granny's words. Letty followed him then, and saw him swinging from a tree. Letty liked swings, one time momma pushed her so high the tree branch she was swinging on almost snapped off. But even she thought the rope's positioning was a bit weird. Her brother was being careless too, falling asleep on the swing. His nice shoes had slipped off, and Letty used the opportunity to take the shoes, give them a try herself. They were too big.

1st person:
I used to stay over at my grandmother's house when I was a itty bitty little girl. It was located in the ourskirts, near the countryside and by a large sprawling forest. My parents would ditch my brother and I there for a whole quarter of a year, during the entirety of heatwave season (AKA summer). My brother used to bring his girlfriend over too, ans I liked her a lot. She was a pretty girl with long black hair and very striking brown eyes. She would bring lots and lots of snacks whenever she came over. But she suddenly stopped coming one summer, and I never saw her again since. I caught my brother, on his way out to the forest for a walk. He snuck out without our granny's knowledge, and I was upset at him. My brother had nice shoes, and I remember thinking that he doesn't deserve the nice shoes he has. I went after him only to see him swinging from a tree. I thought the rope's positioning was weird, and his eyes were closed. His legs dangle, and his nice shoes were on the ground. I took his shoes, he wasn't using them anyway. They were too big for me, and I was too young then to understand how sadness had killed my brother.

The two hunters navigated the claustrophobic corridors of the mountain pass. Their path was bordered by near vertical mountain slope on one side and by a shear drop on the other. It was still early in the morning. While there was fortunately no storm, the wind was loud and a blanket of fog permeated their path.

“We’re almost at the location of the sighting, at least according to the map” Karsten said in high spirits.

“Do you think it’ll still even be there?” Rana fired back with notable anxiety.

“Of course!” Karsten returned. “The researchers said it was feeding on an ore deposit when they saw it the other day, it’s bound to come back for more!”

“Oh okay then” Rani said in exasperation.

Karsten and Rana were high ranking members of the Guild. It was the other day when a researcher returned to their station in Kokoto Village with reports of the tempest dragon taking up residence in an area it had never been seen before and requested the two hunters assistance in repelling or killing the beast.

“We’re finally going after an elder dragon!” Karsten exclaimed “Are you excited?!”

“Yeah… I guess” Rana replied.

Both were still new members to high rank and so had never faced a Kushala Daora or any elder dragon before, only heard of the stories of the great powers the beasts wielded. Karsten was enthralled at the prospect of taking on an elder but Rana wasn’t so optimistic and was growing ever wary as she and her hunting buddy continued on their way through the mountain pass.

Shadow on the Tempest (Rana’s POV)

“We’re almost at the location of the sighting, at least according to the map” He said in high spirits.

“Do you think it’ll still even be there?” I fired back.

“Of course!” He returned. “The researchers said it was feeding on an ore deposit when they saw it the other day, it’s bound to come back for more!” The tone of his voice didn’t seem to be faltering in the least.

“Oh okay then” I returned, pretending I was going along with the whole thing. I had heard of the stories of the abilities they had and how they could trash out entire villages and fortresses in the blink of an eye and given our lack of experience in tangling with such powerful beasts, I was growing weary.

Still, I tried my best to keep my nerve as we continued on our way through the narrow mountain pass.
