This book is transformative because it follows three African American girls as they learn more about their culture and problems that they might face as a black person in America. This book is transformative because it talks about what it is like to be different and directly addresses how bullying can affect someone. While this text will be a window for most readers, it will also relate to anyone who has ever felt or looked different than their peers. This book is transformative because it is a mirror for Vietnamese students and is written by a Vietnamese author. This text begins in Vietnam and thus, becomes a mirror for immigrants as well. They must battle the stereotypes and misconceptions in America during the time of the Vietnam War.

This book provided mirrors for every child since it shows that different families everyone can be a part of. This goes against the norm of what a typical family in a children's books looks like.

He perfectly executes the speech and because of him the first jaguar preserve is created.
Transformative:
This books tackles the way that students with special needs, and in this case specifically a speech impediment, are treated differently in society. It shows that these individuals are just as critical and adept in our society. Transformative:
Not only does this text follow an African American which provides a mirror for many students, but he is also handicapped. This allows a mirror for the special needs population as well to show that anyone can overcome their obstacles.

This text is transformative because it tells about the history of the LGBTQ community. Conversations about the LGBTQ community go against social norms and are rarely discussed in classrooms. Thus, it is important to have a text like this that allows students to understand and ask questions about what being LGBTQ means and the hardships that they have gone through.

This text is transformative because it gives the unique perspective of a Native American. The author is also Native American and is writing from stories and experiences of her ancestors that have been passed down. She experiences a lot of bullying and doubt but ends up proving herself in a National Trivia Competition.
Transformative:
This book again provides a mirror for anyone with physical or mental limitations that struggle to fit in or succeed in a regular classroom. It teaches the readers not to judge someone by what they may look like because on the inside someone might feel or think a lot differently than you would assume.
