However, there are some major differences. As mentioned, Pinterest is solely based on images, whereas Pocket is designed to save articles and blogs on the internet. They thus differ in the type of content. 

Another difference is where the content is based. Pinterest is an in-house platform, where the content is found and created on the platform. In contrast, Pocket provides a Chrome-extension to easily save any kind of webpage, stimulating the use of the web. So, the content is sourced in different places. 

A third difference in terms of managing information is categorizing the content. On Pinterest, the user first creates a board with a title and then starts pinning images based on the prompt. Thus, the categorization and management of content works from a prompt down to the content. On Pocket, this works in the opposite way. Users first collect articles by simply adding them to their saved articles. Then, to categorize them, users can label them and view their labeled content. Pocket also showcases all your saved articles, whereas Pinterest has no place where all posts are saved, but the content is more specifically categorized and organized. This way, one photo is usually pinned as one piece of content on one board. However, on Pocket, they stimulate adding multiple tags to one article, so that it is added to more than one tag collection. Thus, the content is organized and stored in different ways and the road to getting the articles differs. 

 

In conclusion, despite Pocket and Pinterest being the same type of platform with social bookmarking as their goal, they have some major differences in terms of content, content source and the organization of content.
