-Represent 3 different social classes in France. The first estate consisted of the clergy, the second estate consisted of the nobility, and the third estate consisted of peasants. The first and second estates were a very wealthy group compared to the third estate who had the largest population, largest amount of land, and paid all the taxes. The first two estates did not have to pay any taxes and they held the most powers. There was a division of unfairness beyond the estates.

-Marie Antoinette was a greedy, lazy Queen of France. She led the French people to hatred amongst herself. Because the citizens were struggling so much with the bread prices increasing, they got upset because Marie couldn't relate to the poor but only the wealthy.

-Marked a period of compromise and stability during the revolution. Allowed for the importance of documents like the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen. This phase aimed to find the middle ground between the radical demands and changes.

-This phase also brought important changes during the revolution and got rid of the king and set a new republic system. During this phase people wanted to make big changes on the way things were run.

-Executing the king and queen was a huge step to a new government and it was a way for the revolution to show their power and commitment to change. A lot of people were executed at this time.

-The directory was the government for a period of time after the "terror". This government also tried to bring stability but challenges were faced. This was eventually overthrown by Napoleon and that led to the rise of the Napoleonic era.

-Napoleon was a strong leader and implemented the Napoleonic code; helped France's legal system. Frances legal system was modernized and the French territory was expanded through the military. This spreaded the revolution to other parts of Europe.

-This marked a change in the Napoleonic era. Because Napoleon and his forces were defeated, they faced a lot of European power. This weakened Frances position and led to the exile of Napoleon. Also known as the downfall of Napoleon.
