I chose the area around Liberty Park and 9th and 9th. As I have moved to Salt Lake I have just recently been introduced to this place through friends who live in the area but I am still very unfamiliar with the area and stuck feeling lost. Through this experience, I was able to watch live to see some of the problems and how they are directly influencing the people there. I do like how the area creates a smaller town feel through the organization and design of 9th and 9th, but some areas need to be addressed as more and more people start to come around. Getting to here was rather difficult as I tried to park as close to 9th and 9th as possible, but there was minimal parking. This caused me to go into the very narrow neighborhood roads which created a problem as there was not enough space to fit two cars in the two-way road. From there walking around the space was nice. I had to be weary of bikers as there was no space between the bike lane and the sidewalk, so they would cut it very close when passing pedestrians. Luckily it does seem as they are working to improve the area through some construction projects, but for the immediate time that creates a few more problems through dealing with construction and area closures.

Tight Roads

The tight roads due to people parking on the streets leave very narrow roads in the neighborhood to manage. Causes a lot of confusion when cars are heading head on in opposite directions

Graffiti

Lack of Parking Availability near 9th and 9th

When driving over to the area there was very limited parking around 9th and 9th, forcing me to park almost 2 blocks away in the neighborhood and walk over to the area.

Areas Closed for Construction

There were a lot of areas that are typically accessible, but as of now are closed off due to construction projects.

Uneven Sidewalks

Around this area, there are multiple areas of very uneven sidewalks causing people to trip and fall and sometimes causing issues to those on bikes or scooters.

Confusing Parking Lots

In this parking lot, there is only one entrance and there isn't a lot of space so when people simultaneously try to enter and leave the parking area there becomes a lot of frustration and confusion.

Lack of Sufficient Garbage Cans

Throughout this area there are a lot of drink cans or random pieces of garbage that are hidden in places due to the lack of easily accessible garbage cans.

No Separation from Bike lane and Sidewalk

The sidewalk and the bike area are connected and cause some issues while the sidewalks are busy. While I was here there were a couple of bikers nearly colliding with pedestrians.

Torn Up Sidewalks

As well as the uneven sidewalks there were spots that had torn up sidewalk causing issues for those in wheelchairs or those riding scooters.
